Lol. Will the North launch even more? I wonder if one side is going to launched an armed nuclear warhead into the ocean and have it explode. Then the other side launches 2 armed nuclear warhead back into the ocean as well.
@FriedButter "what a waste of game changing weapon, should have donated to us so that we can march to Moscow" Elensky circa 2022.

Since both N Korea and S Korea/US all fired their missiles from their east coasts into the sea of Japan. Shouldn't Japan be real worried ? LOL

@Rettam Stacf definitely, bro look at this way, what is SK and NK had in common aside from being the same ethnicity, It's their hatred of Japan. The US security twin pillar is a paper tiger, the only reason Both SK and Japan agree is to use the Americans as a restraining factor from going to war with each other. Like I said before they never see China as a threat and some may called it as a liability cause the Chinese need a fear factor like the Russian have especially with Japan. It was etched in Japanese psychology after suffering a disastrous defeat at the Battle of Khalkhin Gol.

True. I am not aware of a single incidence where N Korea or S Korea/US fires missiles from their West coast into the Yellow Sea.

Imagine if SK and NK were in cahoots, to play those pesky Americans while hiding their real intentions - revenge on Japan, whilst creating some scripted drama (which they are world class at) between the nations to maintain a facade of hostility.

Maybe we've underestimated SK when they've been practising joint Korean strikes against Japan the whole time.
On the flip side, there's also a lot of unclaimed 'cultural heritage' in Japan

Dust Off That Dirty Word Detente and Engage With China

Joe Biden's grand strategy is setting the US and Beijing on a collision course. It's bad foreign policy and terrible domestic politics.
By Niall Ferguson

[My Comment] This is a long article. There are a few signals from this latest piece, if you read this in the recent series of his articles on China or Russia. He is an avid promoter of Cold War 2.0. He is fundamentally anti-China and anti-Russia from an anglo world view. In this latest piece, I detect his undertone of pessimism in the romance of the three kingdoms: US - China - Russia, which was very rare in most of his opinion pieces in the western MSM. Since he has a broader audience among anglo elites as well as US political class, the under tone of this piece is more interesting to me than its face value. To my eyes over past 20 years or so since I started reading his books and articles, this piece essentially argues for a strategic course correction on China and to a lesser degree on the war. Another interesting tidbit about this article is that, he is NOT talking about China until half way into the article.
Let's jump into some quotes.

[My Comment]
On (1), would it be a little too late? Having gone through this trade war for a few years, China has gained confidence and experiences while US has fire many shots. As a result, US has much less leverage in the trade war against China. Will Biden do the right thing for the benefits of American consumers? I guess not in the current political environment and the hawkish trap his admin has laid for themself since the day one in the white house. Can the Biden admin actively seeks an end to the trade war without appearing losing face? As time passes, it will only get harder.

On (2), as the war goes as my early assessment of Putin waging a protracted war of attrition and winning, in a relative sense of comprehensive national power ranking, it only enhances China's position.

On (3), China has amicable relationships with all stakeholders in the mid-east region. The current energy crisis is actually a god-send gift to China's long term energy planning. It will only hasten the revolution of new energy industries. It will expedite the green infrastructure in China domestic economic development. It will further enhance China's positions in EV, battery, solar, wind, nuclear etc.

Zero-Covid is Xi's 1949.10 instead of of 1966.5. Xi has been able to push many domestic agenda during Zero-Covid that he could not possibly have done during normal times. Under Zero-Covid, Xi has gained so much public support.

So once again, Ferguson starts to have a realist view of US situation, while continues to have a typical mis-read on China among anglo elites. But he does have a good read: the coming mid-term election is going to be a mess.

For reference in this context, here is another recent article of Niall Ferguson:

Ukraine trades insults with EU state

Senior Ukrainian and Hungarian officials have publicly questioned each other’s mental health

A bitter diplomatic row has erupted between Kiev and Budapest, with senior officials of the two countries trading insults over each other’s mental health. It was triggered by remarks made by the speaker of the Hungarian parliament, Laszlo Kover, who blasted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s attitude towards other nations.

“I can’t recall when a leader of a country in need of help would dare to speak out against anyone in a fashion like President Zelensky did, not only against Hungary, but even against the German Chancellor,” Kover said during an interview with local HirTV on Saturday.
Zelensky’s aggressive style of demanding foreign aid to prop up Ukraine in its conflict with Russia may stem from “personal mental problems,” Kover said.

“One should threaten enemies, not those you want to make your friends. There is some kind of personal mental problem, and I don’t know what can be done about it,” he said.

The remarks triggered a diplomatic meltdown in Kiev, with officials firing a broadside of insults at Hungary as a whole and at Kover personally. Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrey Sibiga responded with some sayings, questioning Kover’s own mental health.

“You know an ass by its ears and a fool by his blabber. Short mind has a long tongue,” Sibiga wrote on Facebook, slamming the “unacceptable, vicious remarks by ‘sub-par politicians’ like the non-respected head of Hungary’s legislature.”

A similar response came the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, which demanded Kover show proof regarding his own mental health.
“Further assessment of the words of Kover directly depends on the evaluation recorded in the certificate,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said.

The official also accused Hungary of “stubbornly” continuing to “sling mud at Ukraine and whitewash Russia’s crimes,” while suggesting the country has found itself on the side of “evil” in history “more than once.”

Kiev has repeatedly criticized Hungary over its perceived lack of support in the ongoing conflict, as well as its reluctance to sever economic ties with Russia. The country is heavily dependent on Russia for oil and gas.

Maybe India can apologize and stop this from getting bigger, or is the USA also behind this?

Why would the US be behind this? India Hindu and Muslim relations hasn’t been great. So I doubt there will be any apologies from the nationalist Hindu party. It would be funny if they cease oil exports to India but it’s more likely it will be blown over at some point and the relation to silently be reverted.
