So pretty much if inflation keeps going expect to see shady markets where guys in trench coats go up to you and go "pssst, want to trade food stamps for TV stamps?" and so on.

Food vouchers do not magically cause food to appear where there was no food previously. All it does is cause food inflation if food supply is fixed, and most European countries are running at maximum food production capacity, limited by their supply of fertilizer and arable land.

I don't know why countries put restrictions on GMO in the first place, I know that some GMO are toxic because of the crops producing toxic insecticide chemicals, but this is a problem of safety testing and regulation of the companies not because GMO inherently bad. Hopefully more countries would look into allowing and investing GMO crops in the future, in order to deal with a world with worsening climate and environment conditions.

Still others say that they don’t use Monsanto’s genetically modified seeds, but seeds have been blown into their fields by wind or deposited by birds… Even if a farmer doesn’t buy G.M. seeds and doesn’t want them on his land, it’s a safe bet he’ll get a visit from Monsanto’s seed police if crops grown from G.M. seeds are discovered in his fields.

Unless they are federally owned by each nation then no. I rather not have Monsanto hold a sword over your head because they own the patents and rights to the seeds. Neither should anyone be interested in letting GMO companies control entire nation’s food supply. That also include huge leverage given to the country where the GMO company resides. Anyone fancy letting the US determine if they should continue selling you seeds?
