Can't PLA/MSS just set up a rebellion group on the island

They must already have many.

What the US is doing, with this, with HK riots before, they are playing 7's and 8's and acting like they are Aces and Face Cards.
It's great for domestic consumption, but realistically meaningless.

Even if they landed Nancy Pelosi, Kelly Craft, or whoever short of Sec. State/VP/POTUS, it won't stop the Chinese economy from growing. It won't stop the deepening of ties between mainland and Taiwan. It won't stop the development of the PLA.

So they will just push the envelope with this nonsense posturing. It's all they have.

Though I think that's simplifying things, there's a lot of process the project has to go through before it going to built which is going to take sometime, not to mention it depends on the length as well. But 5-7 might be a bit too long, Nord stream 2 took 3 years to be built from 2018-2021, and the reason why it took really long is because of all the bureaucracy and delays.

Those visit objectives are not to stop Chinese economy from growing or stop the development of the PLA. They are Salami tactic strategy to change the status quo like CN has done in SCS.

In addition to the planning/design stage (which it could take 1-2 years for such a huge project from Russia to China).

A new project can take up to 18 months to complete. Construction crews stay on site for six to 12 weeks and install a mile of the line daily.

And let's look at Power of Siberia 2 as an example:

Russia has agreed to a 30-year contract to supply gas to China via Power of Siberia 2, a new 2600-km pipeline originating in the Bovanenkovo and Kharasavey gas fields in Yamal, bolstering an energy alliance with

Of course you can simultaneously work at different sections but this would be difficult for such a huge and inhospitable region.

In unsurprising news, CIA agent wants to attend the upcoming Quad summit

"South Korean President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol has unofficially approached the [Quad] about attending the group's upcoming summit in Japan as an observer, a high-ranking gov't official told Nikkei, as the incoming leader pursues stronger ties with [Tokyo/DC]"

Russia should also see if they can simultaneously construct LNG plants for increased capacity, while China builds more LNG terminal for them. Although gas pipes should be prioritized, as they won't be blocked in a maritime blockade scenario.
