Perhaps, this is a great indication that the time for the East-West Split has come.
Cold War 2.0 is finally upon us.
However, it's not just as simple as nation vs nation (India vs Pakistan), or empire vs empire (British vs French), or alliance vs alliance (Allied vs Axis), or even ideology vs ideology (Cold War).
This time, it's civilization vs civilization. And this clash will happen on a truly never seen before scale in the history of the human species.
For the 2500+ years-old Chinese civilization (the longest lasting, in fact) and the Chinese people to survive (alongside for the good of the rest of humanity from the tyranny and depotism of the West), China MUST win this war.

To me, its more like US trying to keep what's left of the West under their control and its looking like they are already failing at the starting point. But yes, we're at the transition period from a global order to a split between two blocs.
Also can't confirm if this quote is true, but this does serve as a sign of acceptance to what's to come:
They're not in a good position if they're planning to deglobalize their economy though, cheap goods afforded them more excess wealth to reinvest into capital intensive research and development. It will take them years, and probably decades to rebuild all those manufacturing plants they shifted overseas.
So while China has all that supply chain and industries, they will be left with the challenge of replacing what China has made before. Which is magnitudes harder than researching and developing semiconductors. Also where are they going to get those investment, when the returns for building such industries is really low.

Well, I'm surprised they didn't done this sooner. I wonder are they really pursuing that mythical idea of a winnable nuclear war?
