Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi on Friday proposed a China-India Plus cooperation mechanism in South Asia, according to a statement released after he met senior Indian officials during an unannounced visit to New Delhi, the first since tensions erupted between the neighbours two years ago.

China does not seek a “unipolar Asia” and respects India’s traditional role in the region, Wang told Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval during their meeting on Friday.

“China welcomes India’s development and revitalisation and supports India in playing a more important role in international affairs. China does not pursue the so-called ‘unipolar Asia’ and respects India’s traditional role in the region,” he said, according to a statement released by the Chinese foreign ministry in Beijing.

“We are willing to explore ‘China-India Plus’ cooperation in South Asia, build a positive interaction model, and achieve a higher level and a wider range of mutual benefit and win-win results,” he also said.

Wang, who is also a state councillor, said that China and India do not pose a threat to each other and provide opportunities instead. The statement did not elaborate, but appears have been referring to the Sino-India potential in expanding trade ties, which for the first time crossed the $100 billion-mark last year.

Playing down the decades-long differences on the 3488km-long Sino-India border and the ongoing military tension along the LAC, Wang said India and China should “put the differences on the boundary issue in an appropriate position in bilateral relations, and adhere to the correct development direction of bilateral relations”.

On the issue of multilateral cooperation, Wang said the two countries should “participate in multilateral processes with a cooperative attitude”.

Global governance will usher in an ‘Asian moment’, he added.

China and India, Wang said, are set to host the BRICS (China 2022), G20 (India 2023) and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Leaders’ (likely in China in 2023) summits, he said, adding that if “China and India speak with the same voice, the whole world will listen. The world will pay attention to the cooperation between China and India.”

China to mull over an 'all-out effort' to guarantee summer wheat harvest, expand soybean plantation 'by all means'

China's Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Affairs (MOA) and the Ministry of Finance have issued a notice in recent days, requiring local authorities to mull over an "all-out effort" to guarantee the harvest of summer wheat and expand the plantation of soybeans "by all means," said a statement on the website of the MOA on Friday.

On Wednesday, China also released 1 million tons of national potash fertilizer reserves to meet production needs during this year's spring farming period, according to the country's top economic planner.

Under the notice, local authorities will release one-time subsidies to farmers to alleviate the impact of agricultural materials' price hikes. Authorities will also offer subsidies to corn, soybean and rice producers, properly raising the minimum purchase price of rice and wheat, as well as implement the plantation subsidies to farmers who boost crop cultivation of corn and soybeans.

In addition, Chinese agricultural authorities also support the plan to build new 100 million mu (6.67 million hectare) of high standard farmland, carry out the seed industry revitalization plan, and offer subsidy policies for purchasing agricultural machinery and tools to improve the comprehensive ability of food production.

Li Guoxiang, a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times on Friday that such crisis warning is not an exaggeration as Russia and Ukraine jointly account for 20 percent of global supply of wheat, barley and corn, and their exports are quite disperse, involving a number of countries.

According to media reports, wheat prices have increased by 21 percent, barley by 33 percent and some fertilizers by 40 percent since the tensions escalated last month.

China only imported 5.9 percent of wheat last year, and most is sourced from the US and Canada. A Citi report also showed that only 9.4 percent of domestic corn consumption in 2021 came from imports last year. And Ukraine supplies around 30 percent of China's corn imports.

French President Emmanuel Macron warned of "an unprecedented food crisis" on Thursday during the G7 and NATO summits.
He said the food crisis will be even worse in 12 to 18 months as Ukraine, a major grower of wheat, barley, corn and sunflower, will not be able to sow crops, Reuters reported.

If China is going “all out” and “by all means” for the next harvest season then that means only one thing. Global Food supply is about to be major fucked next harvest alongside with inflation. Especially in the Middle East and Africa regions because they import a lot from Ukraine/Russia.

Looking more and more likely western export restrictions on food is going to happen and then Africa is going to be major fucked and rife with potential instability.

Solomon Islands is in danger

"Red line"
"We can't allow this to happen"
"Need to have firm discussion with the (Solomon) Government that this can't be done"
Irony, I thought West said independent sovereign nations can choose their alignments and alliances. Or is Solomon a Chinese puppet now that needs to be freed and liberated?

Double standard hypocrites.

Bro, brilliant move and diplomacy. Give India more stake in Asia and make them feel like a superpower so that they don't have to go crying to US for help. If all goes well, India will further stand up for itself and instead find collaborating with China on Asia better than fighting over influence in the region.

Also that quote:
"Global governance will usher in an ‘Asian moment’"
Asian century is the goal, confirmed. LFG!
