Its a slow process. The West has shown to the entire world that its laws and institutions are fake. Who (non-Western) is going to trust the dollar now?

Even your favourite ally India, is divesting away from dollar

Indeed, they really screw themselves over by confiscating their Russian assets and reserves. I think Russia intended for that to happen, and was just waiting for the right time to execute their plans to back their currency with natural gas. Anyways we'll see the dollar lose their status, and a new neutral financial system be born out of it.

It seems so. Papa Putin is going to turn the screws on the West

""In order to keep getting Russian gas the West will have to pay it in Russian Rubles", President #Putin"

"Plus Europe will have to pay in Rubles also for the existing gas contracts according to preliminary reports, the Russian govt has only to decide from which day this measure will be implemented, likely in April."

Germany has decided to get Rubles? lol

Germany can’t afford not to import that gas. I think it was the financial minister like 2ish weeks ago saying if they stop buying Russian gas then the country will grind to a halt.

Now I wonder if Biden can strongarm them into chopping their own legs and 1 arm off.

Gas figures below

It's not just the doubling in cost. It's how 40% of Europe's gas is supplied by Russia.

I ended up with a figure of 142 BCM for the 4 gas pipelines that connect Russia with Europe. Given an average capacity of 0.17BCM for a new build LNG gas carrier, that equates to an extra 835 LNG carrier deliveries to Europe per year. It would also take 3-7?? years to build up alternative energy supplies with pipelines or LNG infrastructure.

If the gas supply is disrupted, we can expect power cuts, industrial shortages and unheated homes in Europe.

So I don't expect either Russia or Germany to stop the gas supply.
