Shen Yi is a political scientist at Shanghai Fudan University. He is an excellent analyst. But I don't think he gets real-time brief from the top. There should be some arrangements before any Xi-Biden talk, i.e., no surprises. If the agenda is again US talking "from a position of strength", then there would not have this meeting arrangement. There must be lots of bean counting under the table.
But @OppositeDay says that by not talking to Biden, Xi would be showing a position that's reminiscent of the China in regress or some shit like that. My Stocks!!! Damn you Xi!!Yawn. More of these useless meetings
Gotta feel sorry for Xi having to talk with the senile Biden
Some European capitals are alarmed by China’s refusal to condemn the war, which has ground into its fourth week, or even to describe Moscow’s aggression as “an invasion”.
Yawn x2. Nobody cares about what the CIA-controlled Germany thinks of ChinaIn Berlin, people close to the governing coalition described an air of “disappointment” regarding Beijing.
Yawn x3But Borrell seems undeterred. People close to the Spaniard said he genuinely believed Beijing could play a crucial role in stopping the Russian onslaught, even if his broader views of authoritarian China had become less enthusiastic.
Putin is restarting the Soviet Union
That is the ultimate responsibility of being a superpower. No matter how much they hate each other, they have to do what they need to do as superpowers, even though it means acting sometimes. Just imagine superpowers stop talking......I am not sure if you have anything in a 401K or a stock market. Even a house for that matter. Cold war is by nature deflationary. I am not saying I am glad seeing acting. I am just saying people at level gotta do what they have to do.Yawn. More of these useless meetings

This would be a long story. But I remember every major event since 1991 that US has taken to monetize everything. The very fact that Clinton defeated Bush and unleashed those genies is exactly because US won the cold war and the shackle is off. Then you compare monetary policies between 1945 and 1991. Also let me remind that if Bush pushed Paul Volcker (and Allen Greenspan) to adopt similar FED policies to what were implemented after 1992, there would have no chance for Clinton to win that election. In a nutshell, you can also mark 1992 election as the beginning of the hubris, a.k.a. the end of history a.k.a. Pax Americana. They all converged to a financial angle that indicates Cold War is deflationary vs Pax Americana as inflationary. How would Cold War be deflationary? I don't understand.
