The EU has screwed up and now they want China to solve their mess. What is China going to get out of this? More HK, Xinjiang, Taiwan, CAI bs. Remember the EU WTO case against China for Lithuania?

Infact, China should support Putin in cutting off gas exports so that we can trash European industry competitors.

What's in this for China to mediate? Where are the benefits? Do their benefits even matter when we have seen how they can so easily steal other people's money?
Its not out fault that Europe has messed up once again in their neighborhood.
Go enjoy this war *you* provoked by being a US lapdog and leave us out of this mess
Ask EU to call their daddy Cowboy Murica

China can easily tell EU to fark off after the stunt they pulled with the Uyghur sanctions. China has to make clear that following their US daddy to hurt china has a cost. They know EU will come crawling back for more economic cooperation anyway. Which is probably more urgent now that the Russian sanctions will eventually come back to bite their ass

India should have just accepted Chinese BRI investment. The Chinese would dump all the useless dollars they have into rebuilding the whole place. The notion China is an opponent is, I think, absurd. Who would invade through the Himalayas? And the other possible entry point is basically a wasteland where you would see the other side a long time before they hit you.
I understand Indian issues with Pakistan and the Chinese-Pakistan alliance. But do you think they somehow had no problem with US-Pakistan alliance? Why do you think the Indians are unwilling to let go of connections to Russia? Especially after the US made them break relations with Iran, their natural ally in the region, where are they supposed to get their energy from? Seriously...

I expect US to sign Iran deal pretty soon in an attempt to isolate Russia. And Iran has the only viable alternative supply to Russian oil anyway. The rest is all talk. Once the US gets Iran back into its sphere of influence then they will try to pull India from Russia. And Pakistan did well to put its chips on Chinese side and making overtures to Russia because otherwise they would risk being isolated.

I agree with your assessment on Iran deal. But I have a slightly different view on India.

On Iran, US has a real sense of urgency now. By signing the deal, US is thinking of killing 2 birds with 1 stone. My local 87 gas is approaching $3.50. At this level, the incumbents can kiss mid-term election goodbye. So first, more supply is desperately needed real quick real fast. Secondly, US has realized that Russia's relationship with US/EU is completely broken, and Russia has to turn to China for the foreseeable future. If Iran joins China/Russia, I mean really joining, then the trio has the potential to dominate the Euro-Asia continent. So US has to take a loss on Iran and cut the deal now.

After that, I would buy some really good Chinese tea and watch the drama of Iran. As past indicates, Iranians internally want to be with West. If this deal is signed, I wonder how Iranians are going to act in the grand scheme of West vs China/Russia. And lest we forget, Iran is a formal member of SCO now. Interesting ......

China has to form an alliance with Iran. China has given up a lot by selling Huawei and ZTE telecom equipment to Iran. The resulting sanctions on Huawei and ZTE, and the illegal capture of Huawei executive in Canada. What has China gained from all this?

Yeah I really hope Russia and China will keep Iran on their side. Now is the time for Iran to drive a hard bargain towards US and EU for the US leaving the previous pact. Now the EU really needs Iranian oil.

As someone previously mentioned, if Russia is really willing, they can try to destory the pact and arm Iran with nukes, try to instigate a ME war to worsen the energy crisis in EU. If US was in Russia's situation, I'm pretty sure they would do it.

Well, what you described are facts. That also tells how fickle Iranians are when it comes to Chine relation. On that count, Iran literally betrayed Huawei and in turn China. I would agree Iran is important to China. But I don't think Iran can be counted on. On China side, China also wants to play a balancing act between GCC and Iran. So in my eyes, China is transactional in the entire mid-east region.
