Yeah, order of human rights, sovereignity and democracy. The same fucking order that ravaged Vietnam, Indonesia, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan and numerous other countries.

The title should be complementary instead of unequal. It is unbelievable that SCMP is owned by Alibaba.

I agree with the horrendously biased title. "Unequal" is inappropriate to describe the "complementary" oil-heavy trade between Russia and China. Yes, it's not well diversified but neither is US-Saudi trade but SCMP doesn't call it an "Unequal" relationship to balance against Iran. Russia naturally has a weaker economy, China a stronger one, and it is what it is. Russia knows this and tolerates it because it hopes to benefit from BRI and Chinese investment so it can improve it's own economy.

The article makes a good point that Russia will never become dependent on a single nation because it's hypersensitive of Russian sovereignty and it's superpower legacy. So there are limits to the relationship but so long as US is trying to impose their will on Russia and China, the alignment will be strong. In other words, fears of Russian dependency on any single power (alone) at this stage of US overwhelming pressure is insufficient to divide the Russia-China alignment.

Coordinated Maritime Presences: Council extends implementation in the Gulf of Guinea for two years and establishes a new Maritime Area of Interest in the North-Western Indian Ocean

The Council today approved two sets of conclusions on the Coordinated Maritime Presences (CMP) concept.

In its first set of conclusions the Council welcomes the initial achievements within the framework of the CMP pilot case in the Gulf of Guinea, and extends its implementation by two years. The CMP concept in the Gulf of Guinea has proven to be an effective and useful instrument, contributing to enhanced maritime security, and reflecting the EU’s growing role as a maritime security provider. The conclusions also encourage the further strengthening of the CMP concept through close cooperation between the EU and Western and Central African States.

Building on this positive example, in its second set of conclusions, the Council today also decided to launch the implementation of the CMP concept in the North-Western Indian Ocean by establishing a Maritime Area of Interest covering the maritime area from the Strait of Hormuz to the Southern Tropic and from the North of the Red Sea towards the centre of the Indian Ocean. The implementation of the CMP concept in the North-Western Indian Ocean will complement both the EU’s and EU member states’ activities in the region, while respecting the mandate and chain of command of EUNAVFOR Operation ATALANTA.

The CMP concept aims to increase the EU's capacity as a reliable partner and maritime security provider, offering a greater European engagement, ensuring continuous maritime presence and outreach in designated Maritime Areas of Interest as established by the Council, as well as promoting international cooperation and partnership at sea.

The Council will review both the implementation of the CMP Concept in the Gulf of Guinea and in the North-Western Indian Ocean by February 2024.

EU as 'security provider' far from their own shores. 'Maritime areas of interests' in the Gulf of Guinea and North West Indian Ocean. They are in tandem with US neo-imperialism.

The nations of Europe need to get rid of these US agents/Quislings and finally grow up. The time of US imperialism/hegemony is over.

The US looks at everything from their eyes. They point to an unequal relationship between Russia and China... Since when does the US treat allies as an equal? The only reason why they can tell other countries which countries they can do business with is because of the unequal relationship in their favor. I remember reading a quote from an official from the Philippines who charges that China doesn't treat the Philippines as an equal where the US does. I had to laugh out loud.

Which is why this time will be a turning point to which the collective west is going to receive an extreme reality check

Time to close all those loose ends to protect those rich and powerful. I wonder how sinister and how deep and how many people were involved that it required so many assassination.
