It's believable bro, Alibaba is majority owned by foreigners - Softbank, institutional investors/funds etc., and gives no fucks about SCMP, any perception of "interfering with editorial independence" and likely some activist investor dickheads would scream and shout to take down Ali's stock price, and with it the bonuses of Ali's bosses.

Not gonna work. The more you act crazy like the US the more it backfires. What's actually going to happen is that that 29 year old will work for the US defense contractor anyway (because 1. Chinese parents sacrifice for kids, not the other way around and 2. anyone who wanted to work for an American contracter has no patriotism or desire to go back to China in the first place) and 20 years down the line, maybe living in the US makes him realize how racist and unsuitable America is for him and his family. He is now a 49 year old engineer, far more valuable than a 29 year old newbie. He is drawn to his motherland and has interest to explore, but because of your law, he doesn't have the oppertunity to go back or to understand it much less confidence to uproot his life and go home. Even if he planned to escape and go back home, he doesn't know if the Chinese customs will welcome him or send him back to the US to an ocean of legal problems and jail time. He decides it's just too tough with too many uncertainties so he'll just play the hand he's dealt in the US.

I even remember as a child everyone believed nuclear war was inevitable so it's a joke to debate the merits of the US opening up to China since China joining with the US was why the Cold War ended. The US would be burning in a nuclear fire if it weren't for China. And as usual the US eventually backstabs its allies which also brought about the War on Terror. The US operates on selfishness hence why blowback happens to the US all the time.
