I think one of China's worst enemy in its creative space is its own censorship/propaganda committee. Like for example, they can't make a "silent sea show" because some ancient cadre would say "we can't show a flaw in our space program." They can't make "hellbound" because of monster/ghost censor ship. They can't make Squid Game because of social commentary and crazy level of violence. The only censorship i agree on is squid game's violence (retarded level of violence definitely causes mental health issues, hence americans shrug at 3k+ covid deaths in 1 day), but some story showing the struggle of poor should be able to pass thru occasionally. It's one thing to dwell on social commentary to cause an unrest, its another thing to just tell a story.

Another huge problem is idol worshipping that ends up producing alot of quick money idol garbarge. However, there some gems that make it thru each year and I think they can surpass all of the other countries on their own if they really try...

The longest day in Chang'an was exceptionally well made. Jackson Yee, Lei Jiayin did an en excellent job on their respective roles. As a matter of fact, all the cast and characters were all excellently acted and the direction was superbly handled by Cao Dun.

I have been contemplating on this one as well and I will hate to agree with you regarding the creative space being hampered by the censorship in China. But in my opinion when it comes to period/costume drama the Koreans in my opinion aren't there or able to compete with the best from China. But with respect to the more contemporary settings and topics, South Koreans win hands down due to a more flexible environment for the creative talents to experiment without getting their work blunted due to censorship.

This guy has zero consistent principles.

When it was Trump in power, he is completely silent about the debt/deficit.... Cheering for Trump's $1.9 Trillion tax cuts for the wealthy/rich.

When it's Biden in power, he goes apeshit about debt/deficit...saying Build Back Better (BBB) is wayy too expensive, blah blah blah.

Completely partisan hack and ideological cheer-leader.
Carlson is a grifter and a phony. He's great on expounding and espousing populist talking points that have great resonance to the American right and Americans that are leaning on the middle of politics. Since the liberals are too busy virtue signaling everyone they're going to be marginalized pretty soon. If someone from the right manages to nominate another Reagan like candidate expect another historic shellacking for the Democrats.

I can't stand the heaping pile of s..t that comes from the Democratic Party. They're not interested in governing but on spewing what their ilk want to hear and condescend everyone into submission. The same can be said from the right wing freaks but at least they're not pretending to be holier than thou and you'll able to smell their stench from a mile away.

Why? I think the plot/storyline good enough but the execution of the concept disappointing at times. Maybe it's the Korean culture thingy which is how they portray things which I find hard to understand, I dunno. "Squid Game I watched for about 30mins then watched the rest by fast forwarding. "Hellbound" I watched 20mins and flagged it away while "Silent Sea" I had it playing on a second monitor and managed the first episode. I might play another episode as background noise.
HELLBOUND is too Christiany for my taste which speaks volume of how South Korea has been so thoroughly penetrated by the evangelical nutjobs that are now fully entrenched in government and businesses of that country.

Nothing appealing or special, I can watch it or choose not to watch it. After 30 minutes or so, I just don't feel like I want to waste another few hours to see the rest.

I actually finished the first season and it's was ok. I agree with you on the too christiany front. My biggest problem with a lot of K dramas and C dramas too is there are a lot of things that don't make sense and people straight up doing stupid nonsensical things. For those who are interested in a really good Chinese crime drama that has good logic and direction (IMO), here's one of my all-time favorite C dramas. It's called Day & Night. Ignore the 2 there, the second season has been cancelled.

The Silent Sea gets released yesterday and already is a global hit on Netflix. I'm binge watching it myself. This year alone, the top rated TV shows on Netflix are all Korean: Squid Game (#1), Hellbound (#1), and Silent Sea already in the top 3 after 24 hours and probably top 1 in a few more hours. Even Cowboy Bebop stars a Korean male lead.

Envious.

Hollywood is in a steep decline, while Korean entertainment is growing bigger day by day. Many insecure white incel weebs are already extremely triggered by white girls enjoying K-entertainment because they perceive it as Asians "stealing" "their" women, LOL. Props to Korea for promoting Asians instead of whites unlike Japan, which produced games, anime, and shit about white people instead. I hope China follows the same path and people who produce shit like "The Great Wall" (white-worshipping white savior movie) will get shamed & purged.
