I take it back. They are better off not making this information public in the first place. Lots of U.S. companies are enforcing the boycott (like Sam's Club and AMD) but they are not dumb enough to make it international news.

They apologise to save whatever goodwill that is left of their Chinese customers. Not necessarily a sincere apology, just a practical cheap one. Certainly they are in China long enough to remember Dolce & Gabbana and the boycott Xinjiang cotton debacles.
