The ongoing pandemic has claimed the lives of some 21 million people in China. That's
why tyrant Xi Jinping recently abolished the 1-child policy that had been in place for years. CCP
had credited the 1-child policy with preventing China's population increase over the years by some
400 million.
There are widespread food shortages in China. In the last couple of months, some cities
have been without electricity. Factories without power are unable to make and ship their
products. Large areas in a number of provinces are under flood water. Frequent Delta and
Omicron outbreaks continue to plague the country. Every time outbreaks are reported, citizens
are jabbed with same ineffective vaccine - less than 50% efficacy - over and over. Recently,
there were 10 huge explosions in various parts of China. CCP has kept mum offering no
explanation.
Under these conditions, CCP headman Jinping has brought good news to his people.
Now they can have large families. New population target: 2 billion

China has food and electricity shortage so they need to exacerbate the problem by having more children? That doesn’t make any logical sense.

This is hilarious. China lost a lot of people to covid, so that's why they're trying to increase their population. Except they don't have enough food to feed the people they already have. But they still want to increase their population, even though they had a policy in place to prevent there being more people than they can feed. So even though apparently they still can't feed their people, for some reason they want to have more people now.

ROFLMAO!

The premise: Chinese government is irrationally incompetent. Once you understand that is what they think, it becomes clear.

Here it is. China supports Russia on Ukraine

Finally for once (as far as I know) an author from SCMP is reporting honestly. I know it because I listened CCTV's report of the meeting.

The meeting did not specify Ukraine nor Taiwan, but had these texts "The two parties formally declared the extension of Sino-Russo friendship and cooperation treaty and give it new meanings. The two parties firmly support each other in their core interests." We all know that Russia considers stopping Ukraine to join NATO as its core interest, while China considers Taiwan the core interest, and both maintain military solution as an option.

They cannot pretend its not happening. Before the meeting, see what the Russian spokesperson said:

The recent developments in international affairs, especially on the European continent, are now very tense and this definitely requires discussion between the allies, between Moscow and Beijing," the Kremlin spokesman noted.
I am not buying it that China is as committed as Russia is on saying these words. But for Russia to say such a thing it means that they are defacto allies, even if China doesn't want to say it publically

About allies. Yes, the two are de facto allies.

About "China not as committed as Russia". There can be two intepretations:
  1. In Tass report, Dmitry Peskov put Allies and Moscow-Beijing side by side. From a pure language perspective, China is not part of that allies. The allies could just mean CSTO countries, in it specifically Belarus. In this way, Dmitry is not making any trick.
  2. Or he really want to make that impression that Russia and China is a formal ally.
Regardless what he wanted to say, China is not bothered if Russia want to make a stronger sense of alliance to the west. I think "China commitment to an formal alliance" is irrelevant in China's calculation. China always focus on the essence not the word. This is same as China's attitudes to NK and Pakistan, and any other countries that China sees as critically important. For example, China fought Vietnam for Cambodia without a formal treaty with it. China fought USSR when the two were officially allies. Alliance really means nothing.
