Wasn't expecting this coming. Good for UAE to have the guts to resist the US imperialism. Let's hope they can keep it up. The US will sure be pressing them harder next.
I think eventually the deal will be reached. That's mainly because the MIC won't accept a $20+ billion to be dropped.

Way I see it, the UAE will "force" the US to drop its requirements regarding China and Huawei

The UAE is a big supporter of Huawei and are installing their gear. The United States has made a lot of noise about this, how important it is for the UAE to not do that. Over the course of a year that message has been the same.

The UAE has not budged one bit from their stance over Huawei.

It has come down to a choice of F-35 or Huawei 5G. Miliatary equipment or civilian infrastructure.

The French recently sold 80 Rafale jets to them. Sort of like Marcon's revenge.

How many F-35 were they talking about? I forget.

I suspect the F-35 deal will not happen. If the United States relents on this Huawei demand, then no one will ever listen to that crap ever again.

The UAE is a pretty small country, that will field Rafale and F-35? Seems like overkill.

:p

Maybe there is larger happening.

All these wars in the Middle East, they were all useless.

People and regimes, they come and go.

The rise of China is different. Chinese does business with everybody. They do not care about your war. You and your enemies are still customers. :D

The United States plays favourites. For survival, maybe the Middle East rulers were aware of that, and tried to stay in the good books of Uncle Samuel.

So why all the Middle East wars? Suppose a country is too weak, then Uncle Samuel will not have much to do with it, it cannot be bothered with the weak. In that region, the weak truly do not survive, or become Palestinians.

The UAE is not doing this because they support China or Huawei but because their economic future depends on the next gen communications infrastructure that only China and Huawei can provide.

America is unwise to force them to make that choice, because if you were forced to choose between getting decent broadband internet you need to work and make a living; or getting some fancy AR rifles that you don’t really need, which would you choose?

This is a purely pragmatic and sensible choice (although they are only suspending the deal and not cancelling it, so this is still a bit of power play and bargaining rather than a firm final decision), and should not be seen as UAE having picked a side (although hotheaded American politicians are sure to see it like that).
