Talk about patience, his avatar is Zhang Fei who is well known for the bad temper and easy to flip. The choice does reflect his personality.

I guess if he is ethnic Chinese and live in the west, you are bomabarded with anti-china propaganda in news/media and maybe in real life. Also, in many western sites, you will end up getting ban if you "fight" off the real trolls. So maybe he just has some steam to let out.

Good point. However, regardless of the sponsor of a hypothetical color revolution, the supposed craziness keeps everyone in check, and that protects the current government. It is not craziness out of emotions, but instead out of strategy.

The issue is that North Korea is excessively paranoid and irrational. So it can't even undertake sensible reforms or outside interactions, and no one trusts them. That keeps North Koreans poor. Craziness as strategy is a bad strategy for national development.

In comparison, the Chinese government has been far more rational and demonstrated far more competance in raising wages and living standards. Comprehensive long term domestic development is actually the same goal in terms of government legitimatcy, government survival and wealth for all.

Might be a cynical view, but the way N.Korea acts now suits China fine. It is crazy enough to scare the whole region, while also giving China the excuse to wash its hands clean that it "controls" (which it doesnt) N.Korea to act aggressively

This then helps China to act as a neutral mediator and increasing its diplomatic role

That Kim is acting against N.Korea national interests by remaining poor is clear to everyone, but that doesn't mean that China will complain or feel bad for it. N.Korea as it acts now, is ok for China

I know why that happened, and there are good examples not far from today, Gorbachev and Yeltsin, former leaders of Communist Party who destroyed and banned Communist Party. Or a little earlier, Wang Jingwei, former leader of ROC who turned over to Japan and fought against ROC. Or Hitler who infamously commended his "loved" German people unworthy to live just before Berlin's fall because German people were not able to fulfil his desire of conquering the world.

Their common feature is that they all claim and act as if they love the country that they think they can control and influence greatly. Once they realize that they don't get things their way because their own failures or people in the country disagree with them, they went berserk, jump to the opposite side and try to destroy everything they "loved".

Such people are opportunists, love no one but themselves only. Their only interest is to use their "loved" people and country as a stepping stone to fulfil their personal desire of being the top dog of the world. A good example from him is this "China is great in building HSR and other super projects, but China is destroying Chinese culture. His oversea community is the true carrier of Chinese culture. China's opening up is the result of Li Guanyao's advice."

He is not alone as such "China lover" though, not only on the street but also this forum. It is easy to distinct them by asking the question "are they willing to concede or compromise when they appear to be the minority among Chinese even if they may be right". It is that "willingness to be together for better and for worse" defines who they really are.
You just described white “sinophiles” who, once they realise china isn’t going to suck their dick and the lucrative days of being a sexpat English teacher are numbered, quickly turn into hardcore china containment types who want to create a world for the white women and children never mind that they could never score with a quality white female in the first place.

I would say that China tolerates the current situation, because there are worse alternatives.

That is a good point. It is the "trying to be accepted into the main stream" mentality which I have seen in some of my own friends flipped in various ways from the time they dropped their Chinese citizenship. Not all of them, but a significant portion.

@taxiya

It's gotten particularly bad in the anglosphere over the past 2 years for obvious reasons.
And I don't see any let up for at least the next 5 years because China-US relations will only get worse

The US is losing it. It is making so many demands to UAE to drop cooperation with China, that it alienated UAE so much that it suspended the F-35 mega deal

Wasn't expecting this coming. Good for UAE to have the guts to resist the US imperialism. Let's hope they can keep it up. The US will sure be pressing them harder next.
