You must be pro gun control, because the pro gun people won't bat an eye. As they like to say, guns don't kill people, people kill people.

They're also going to say, if that school had people with assault rifles, the shooting wouldn't have happened.
No matter what happens, the USA lives and dies by the gun. They don’t care about the future, otherwise they would have done something about now with all the kids getting shot dead. No they seem to enjoy this sort of thing and always come up with all kinds of excuses to be able to ignore the utterly obvious that if they didn’t have guns, no one would’ve died so easily. Oh well if they end up lighting the whole nation up one day, well whatever, it’s their ‘freedom’ so they can exercise it whatever way they want, in fact the more the merrier as absolutely nothing is ever going to change.who knows, maybe one day, mass shootings of over 1000 a day will still only get the same thoughts and prays as the number of people dead from covid will get. The nation is falling apart as it is, there is no future and the USA (hence the west) is complete incapable of changing this fate.

The "burden" of being the hegemon. You have to defend everything, everywhere while the challenger just needs to find a small weak link and it gets a new benefit

As for this new base thing, its internal affairs. US doesn't have a leg to stand on this. However they can "sweeten" them if it gives them sizeable aid for "humanitarian reasons"

Putin has repeatedly said Russia's redlines are not being taken seriously. That has been the case for the last 30 years where NATO expanded until it is literally next to Russian borders. First it was Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria, Romania etc... then Poland and now possibly Ukraine. Russia finally said enough is enough. But most of these countries wanted to be part of the West, so that is also true.

Russia is being intentionally pushed until it has no choice but to further elevate its relationship with China (when Putin visits China in Feb). The stage is set where on one side you have China, Russia, etc.. and on the other you have US, EU, etc.. Is this exactly what US wanted all along? It needs to push Russia to China in order rally the EU to support its strategic designs in the Indo-Pacific since Russia is not the main strategic focus? Maybe. And with the West controlling mainstream media to the masses, you can bet who's going to be painted as the bad guys, the new axis of evil.

Yes. Lets be honest, a US + EU combined economical power is approximately $35 trillion.
If you see it from the economic terms then it is a no brainer for the US to trade Russia for the EU.

China takes Russia's side but I would bet that if something happened, it would keep very quiet in order to not provoke the EU and make it even closer to the US.

What is happening here is the US using its advantages to provoke Russia to attack Ukraine and then find an excuse to close ranks with the EU and sanction so hard the Russian economy that itnwill suffer substantial damage. Then the US would also try to get China into this mess

This is a trap. China isn't afraid of taking the West, but not today. The timeframe is for 2030+, not 2022. Here, Chinese diplomats and leaders will have to play a masterful and delicate hand in order to keep the status quo (basically, play for time)

It may be a calculated move by the US. If it forces Russia to invade Ukraine, it achieves twin goals of rallying the EU and placing additional sanctions on Russia. When those sanctions hit, Russia has no choice but to turn to China. The real goal is of course China, and if Russia is formally allied with China, the EU has no choice but to follow US lead on China/.
