Lol why does the middle class in China covet international school education? Vehicle for brainwashing. The middle class parents think intl school education makes their children more elite.

Also make the foreign kids in China go to local schools! Some of them live in China for 10 years but can't speak a spattering of Chinese
Curriculum in international schools are all approved by the stated. That’s part of their license agreements.

Instead of "Guns Bad", I like how nuanced some Americans are when it comes to gun control (but it's our "kulture" and "rights", but it's up to PARENTS to prevent mass shootings now, and mental health!) but when it comes to China, it's all black-and-white, "China Bad". Americans are capable of nuance when it comes to their domestic issues, but when it comes to others or foreigners, it's all overarching generalizations and sweeping accusations with no room for nuance.

It's naive to think people base their attitudes on principles rather than self-interest.

Just to play Devil's Advocate.

What if I said back in 1950s:

"I don't think China will have an option to "abandon" the Soviet Union. China is hugely dependent on Soviet technology, assistance, and the West HATES China and full-scale embargos on China. Most Chinese don't trust the Americans, and in fact, I have some Chinese friends here that hate Americans,..... yes "HATE""

and then Nixon happened, US-China quasi-alliance against Soviet Union, and Soviet Union collapse. What's preventing a Reverse Nixon? Hatred alone and economic ties wasn't enough to stop China from becoming quasi-allies with West/US against Soviet Union. Anything can happen. Esp. since Russian billionaire oligarchs are Westophiles (see their mansions in London) and potential discord over Central Asia/Artic sphere of influence.

Under the pressure of and in the scramble to find a strategy - any strategy - that might work for containing a rising China, a lot of western policy analysts and politicians inevitably come to revisit Nixon's China policy and the US-China quasi-alliance to contain Soviet Union. In so doing, most of them only remember the Nixon-goes-to-China part of the story and easily forget the Mao/Zhou-reaching-out-to the-US part. It takes two to tango. At the time, China was facing enormous pressure from the Soviet Union, with millions of soldiers from both sides facing each other across one of the world's longest border and potential nuclear exchanges was always lurking in the background. One of the regular topics among Chinese elites at the time was; how long does it take for the Red Army tank columns to reach Beijing?

Is there even a superficial similarity between the US-China-Russia/Soviet Union triangle relationship in the '70's and that of today? With all the hostilities that the US/West have towards Russia and the world of hurt that the collective west has incurred on Russia since the collapse of the Soviet Union, how can Russia forget and suddenly forge an alliance with the US? Why does Russia want to turn hostile to a friendly neighbor, its No.1 trading partner by far, the world's largest consumer market, and a rising superpower 10x larger in both economy and population with increasingly growing advanced technologies and join the declining and disgruntled US/West against it?

But don't take my words for it. Read this recent article for a Russian perspective from Dmitri Trenin, Carnegie Moscow Center.

For now, Moscow continues to carefully expand and amplify its relations with Beijing, even as it manages its own ongoing confrontation with the United States. To side with Washington against Beijing would be an act of strategic folly: turning China into an adversary would have far worse strategic consequences for Russia than continuing to confront America and all its allies. To side with Beijing against Washington in peacetime would be giving away a large chunk of Russia’s strategic sovereignty and leaving the fate of the country dependent on the outcome of a rivalry between other powers.

... and, in the concluding paragraph:

In the longer term, the current equilibrium in Sino-Russian relations is not stable, however. China dwarfs Russia economically and offers a viable alternative to Western technology and financial resources that are becoming less available or are increasingly considered unreliable and unsafe in Russia. ...

How do I measure the butthurt in this article
When the initial spread of Covid-19 was detected, sequenced, and identified in China the west accused and lied about China's effort or lack thereof of not closing itself ergo it's citizens from traveling into the outside world which then allowed the world wide spread of the virus. Which were all hilarious and fiction.

But now that China has still maintained it's herculean effort to protect all of it's people from the ravage of Covid-19 the same liars are yet again finding the ridiculous fiction that China is still to blame for loss of tourism revenues. It's maddening to know that regardless of how China conducts itself, so long as it's not under the thumb of the west (no U.S. military bases, not under western dysfunctional Demoncrazy, nor under the control of the plutocrats, and not being legislated to enforce a million genders) China will be seen as an existential enemy. Lol so sad.
