I remember there were some voices in this forum arguing for China to change the name of PLA to "China Army, Navy and Air force". I just read the recent news about PLA air force giving warning to Taiwan's pilots as "This is People Liberation Army......". It won't work if the name is changed that would effectively makes the two sides' air forces from two countries.

Just a practical reason for not changing besides the more important reason "the nature and root of PLA". There was same suggestions in the early days of PRC which was rejected by Mao because "China's land is not fully liberated yet", he further stated (partially joking) "even after the whole China is liberated, there is the world to be liberated."

When the PLAAF intercepts foreign aircraft the pilot always says that "this is the Chinese Air Force".

EU and US teaming up to counter China on the steel and aluminium sector

The EU has (as always) surrendered to the steel tariffs imposed to it by the US, and has decided to NOT retaliate (=surrender)

Saturday's deal will set up a "global arrangement on sustainable steel and aluminium" that includes "like-minded" nations. That's diplomatic code for maneuvering against Beijing's overcapacity.
"sustainable" + "like-minded nations" = counter China

EU as always the kid who whines after getting beaten up by a bully and promises to take revenge but it shuts up when the bully returns for a 2nd round

They want steel and aluminum to replicate magnesium sector too? They say inflation is too low?

And this from the legalese standing point... yet I do agree that Chinese people should appreciate even thankful to the Qing officials who wisely and smartly crafted this agreement for the sake of the generation long in the future...

But if Margaret Thatcher insisted to refuse returning Hong Kong to China, Deng Xiaoping just needed to remove the entry barrier into that enclave, let people flood that region. And cut the supplies as necessary. It's merely an undefendable piece of land, which was a possibility that Thatcher already verified with her advisors and ministers.
Things always have two sides. One is the raw force, the other is the facade/diplomacy/legality. Although raw force is the deciding foundation as the saying goes "one can not gain anything on the negotiation table without gaining it from the battle field", most of the time people fight equally hard (as in the battle field) at the table for the legality of their positions, after all the difference between human society and the jungle is that a piece of paper has a great value.

I was trying to say (and I believe that you agree) that both Qing's effort on the negotiation table in 1850 and PRC's raw power in 1980s are irreplaceable in China's effort to recovery Hongkong.

There is no problem with that, in the same manner as "China" is interchangeable with "People's Republic of China" in most of the occasions. But officially it is only PLA and PRC.

Wow Biden publically said this.. "Better relations", "good signals from the US", "Summit", "Cooperation"amirite?..

President Joe Biden has said the US and EU are seeking ways to curb imports of “dirty steel” from China after Washington and Brussels put aside their own trade dispute
The deal would “restrict access to our markets for dirty steel from countries like China, and counter countries that dumped steel in our markets, hammering our workers,”

Earlier Valdis Dombrovskis, the EU’s trade commissioner, told reporters the two sides would be “inviting like-minded economies to join this arrangement”
“One of the elements we will be discussing will be how to restrict market access for non-participants that do not meet the conditions for the market,” he said
Decouple from EU as well. Always said that EU is just a another US puppet

Apparently geopolitics follow prison style rules: only race matters
Obviously. There is a reason why people from the Global South just say "West/White superiority" than bother to differentiate between US/Canada/EU/Australia etc.

They are all the same

Just remember that last year China made unilateral concessions to the EU for CAI. Well the fault China made was, as you say, that it believes in pragmatic hard-hitting geopolitics/geoeconomics.
Instead it is all about white superiority for the West

Its more cynical than that, say it works and they crater China, the US will just then turn on the EU and swallow the EU whole...

In this new paradigm of the ever-shrinking negative-sum game where Pies get smaller and smaller, this is a Squid Game type of last man standing... there will only be enough room in the lifeboat for one winner... China better play this smartly
