There's no country in the world where bribery is legal. It's mainly elites and the bribes don't go to finance education and health initiatives. The go to the pockets of a select few who park them in tax heavens and use the funds to distort the property market in countries like Kenya

If China finds corruption reprehensible in China, it should do them same in other countries.
Corruption is an evil that should not be tolerated
It is easier said than done In a country with weak social, institutional or cultural institution It is almost given that corruption will continue. If you are low wage government employee adn along come some one with bucket of money what would you do hunger or just accept the bribe?
Corruption and ignorance are the 2 crutches that hobble Africa, Democracy or totalitarian systme of government make it more difficult to eradicate corruption. It happened in Asia too but IN East Asia there is strong government institution that are able to eradicate corruption over the decade with draconian rule. It is up to the African themselves to bring their house inorder and it is not China jobs to eradicate poverty, corruption in Africa.

Many of us here have suspected the existence of Biden as President is a bit perfunctory in this administration and power actually rests in several cliques among the executive branch. Well we have another example here.

From what I've seen, the cliques are:
  • MIC clique, headed by Blinken, Jake Sullivan here is also part of this clique. They are China hawks, they are currently the dominate clique
  • economy clique, headed by Yellen, they are really worried about inflation and are China doves and want China to help them out economically. Katherine Tai here is part of this clique.
  • climate clique, headed by someone, maybe John Kerry, they are a small but vocal clique who think what they're doing is more important than everyone else, they are China doves and want to work with China on things like getting solar panels to China
china should impose higher prices exclusively to usa for strategic products where its difficult to find other sources. To maximize the pain on american industries

Good Cop/Bad Cop role played by various actors in the admin. USTR Tai plays the Good Cop in talks with Liu He, NSA Jake Sullivan as the Bad Cop. These dynamics serve to strengthen Tai's hand over the "first few round of talks" with Liu He. Leaves Beijing with a choice of following through on various aspects of Phase 1, or accepting Sullivan's higher targeted tariffs as the "new normal" in the relationship.

That is a very poor strategy that will fail completely.

The Chinese do not believe in good cop bad cop. If one cop is bad, they both are bad.

Meanwhile, while they waste their time, the US trade deficit keeps rising!

Along with the money printing.

India has rejected setting a carbon neutrality target for itself, says it is a victim.
Good. Fair is fair. China at least managed to get industrialized before this climate crisis.

Meanwhile India which is now just starting in industrialization, has its wings clipped, in order to combat climate change

Chima should stand firmly with India on this matter. Nobody wants climate change to happen, but to push down the developing countries in order to have the Americans keep consuming like crazy, is impossible

If the developed world wants the developing countries to take seriously this problem then they better start paying them

We are still waiting for that $100 billion..

Or an opportunity for China?

Offer to replace their less than 200 coal power stations with Hualong One Reactors. 100% paid for with carbon credits.

You mean for India? Wont happen due to geopolitics

If you mean for the developing countries in general then there are problems. China already has contracts with some countries to build the Hualong nuclear plants.

However it is costly, for such an inportant thing Chinese products have a bad reputation in those countries (also thanks to western propaganda).
There are also supply chain issues. It is impossible to start building so many nuclear reactors

There are also issues with how long it takes to build a nuclear plant . From planning, to permits, to the inevitable lawsuits, to protests from locals, then from opposition politicians, testing, etc. It is a big mess
