There is no way that this wasn't known by China. This must have begun during the Trump administration.
Anyway, this is just another proof why China shouldnt seriously talk to the US unless it takes action yo deescalate.
Also funny how Biden a few days ago said "We will abide by the Taiwan agreement" and some days later this is revealed..

To be precise, it is "Kishida said that Joe Biden said that article 5 applies to Diaoyu island".

In no where was article 5 and Diaoyu island mentioned. That means Joe Biden does not take any position on the matter, no mater how much Kishida wanted. Without making it publicly known to the world, any behind-door promise is just Biden's spittle and Kishida's wet dream.

I cannot remember everything, reports like these that US Marines were training Taiwan forces was happening decades ago. It was always reported a small number of US military was training the Taiwan military.
If it was large scale training, no one can hide it.
If this small scale training was happening, what difference does it make.
My guess is some blob member or hawkish pentagon spilled the bean.

Also watch out the South Korean reports related to North Korea, they fabricated the "execution by anti-aircraft artillery", why not meat grinder, dissolved alive by acid? They just watched too many horror movies.
There is no need to over-react of "US soldier on Taiwan soil". Theoretically and practically nobody including U.S. can prevent a foreign soldier standing on its soil. The security guards of Chinese embassy in Washington are PAP soldiers in plain cloth. The US embassy in Beijing is also guarded by USMC in plain cloth. Soldiers or Civilians are just a piece of fabric.
I am sure that the US soldiers in Taiwan are like this, overtly civil contractors and consultants. The very fact that this is "leaked" meant this nature. For Taiwan and US, taunting this is just "singing in the dark" and "win by spittle", for mainland China, paying attention to it is fighting a ghost and giving undue credit.
