Imagine it's 2012, 001 Liaoning is at sea and we just got word and video that a Su-33 has successfully completed first landing and take off from it.

That's right, I said Su-33 because in this alternative history PLAN never got their hands on the T-10K-3 prototype, never developed the J-15 and so for first aircraft trial of Liaoning PLAN rented a Su-33 from 279th regiment from Russian Naval Aviation, complete with a gold hair Russian pilot as the first person to successfully land and take off from Liaoning. How would us here feel about this news?

That's sort of what happened here with Izumo.

the Reuters report may not be accurate. Chinese report shows Yang arrived in Switzerland to meet his US counterparts "based on the September agreement reached by Xi-Biden ". Biden is too old.
Reuters, one of the Big Three, definitely checks and re-checks source for news of this magnitude. It was definitely a balloon from the Biden admin. It seems to me that the max pressure from US and its allies on Taiwan is approaching the red line of China. Biden certainly knows that China and Xi have absolutely no wiggle room when that red line is pinched. And China today is absolutely not China circa 1996 or 1999. So, cold heads prevailed. Biden's top priority, for the moment, is debt ceiling and inflation, with mid-term in mind.

The US has been in retreat in a range of issues recently. This is China just saying ok, you seems pretty desperate to talk, lets see what you have to say.

Xi has already made his stance clear with the 2 lists given to the US some months ago.
The ball is on the US' court. It all depends on what the US will talk about in Switzerland

Either the agreement was too embarassing for Biden to disclose it or he's too senile and could not recall what was in it... or both. They both seem highly likely at this point and are not mutually exclusive.

If the situation was reversed, American media would be howling that China has been brought to its knees and is begging for mercy. But now, they need to paint it as America being the more sensible one to lead the move past a deadlock.

Regardless of the spin, it's satisfying seeing these titles; I already knew for while now by the economic numbers that America's trade war had failed and China came out on top but no victory is truly complete without seeing the enemy come to you with his tail tucked between his legs to negotiate his surrender.

She noted, however, that she did not think full decoupling – in the sense of severing trade on key supply chain components – was “a realistic outcome.”
Instead, she proposed the term “recoupling” to describe the process of creating “a trade relationship with China where we are occupying strong and robust positions in the supply chain.”
From decoupling -> to recoupling, you couldn't make this up

That says it all about how (not) successful its trade war and sanctions were

Care to name a single country that doesn't have criminals?

What this amplification of isolated incidents shows is that Kenyan media is heavily influenced by Western capital, if not outright controlled.

It's up to Kenyans to decide if they want to live as masters of their own nation, or if they want to continue being economically and spiritually colonized by the West.

If Kenyans don't like Chinese doing business in their country, plenty of other African nations will be happy to take that investment.
Yes I have this feeling that a lot of this African elite because they lapped up the western propaganda consider themselves above Chinese and freely dispense criticism without even thinking or check the fact. Nobody bother with Africa the west let them rot for decades when they should have moral imperative to help Africa after exploiting it bone dry for centuries. Yet this elite blame China because of isolated incident They never heard the word "beggar cannot be choosy"

Contrarty to western propaganda serious study show China bring tangible progress to Africa starting from Tanzam in60's all the way to modern world See this video show how China build sleek and comfortable, safe, SGR and transfer knowledge and skill . China Communications Construction Company, Ltd. (CCCC) recently held an open house event for the Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway in Kenya, showcasing operation and maintenance of the railway and how it has changed local people's lives. The largest infrastructure project in Kenya since its independence in 1963, the railway is a flagship project of Kenya Vision 2030 – the long-term development blueprint for the country – and an early outcome of China's Belt and Road Initiative.

@SampanViking Sir if true this is a strategic geopolitical move, Pakistan surely is involved and with possible coordination with Iran and Russia. Not purely a military base but maybe stationing some drones and intelligence aircraft to monitor ETIM or ISIS.
