I'm a Kenyan born ,went to school in Canada and I shuttle between Nairobi and Toronto .Africans are not buying this China threat propaganda by the west but incidents like these dont do China and China any favours .Like I said ,they get amplified and are used as examples of Chinese "colonisation" in Africa which is honestly bull .
The prevailing attitude here is "we like your work but we dont like you .Finish and go "
If I was advising the Chinese government , I would really invest in Chineses' soft skills which seem to be lacking .The guys who come to do business here and build infrastructure are the true ambassadors of China

If China is economically twice the size of the US by the 2030-2035 timeframe, Chinese military spending and developments should easily counter whatever the US military decides to field.

Well I have no doubt that there is bad apple among Chinese worker in Kenya . But to tar China development program as racist is detrimental to Kenya development. Who else is willing to help Kenya developed their potential. for decades the west ignore Arica period. You want loan you need to do environment assessment by hiring western expert and cost million to do it and delay the project for years. Once it passed by bribing people and politician for sure, you have to hire western consulting who would preferred expensive western non competitive supplier. While they built compound and live in luxury in Kenya while poor people in Africa pay for them. contributing nothing to the welfare of local people sucking the blood dry from Africa!
Chinese contractor living side by side with their African counterpart. they endured harsh and primitive living environment just the same as their worker. There will be friction due to cultural difference, work attitude, discipline, etc due to coming from different culture. From time to time it cause friction But that is normal. But the big picture China completed most of the work on time within budget and transferred the technology which you won't get it with western supplier
So take your choice, The problem is that western power and their minion in the press which is mostly western educated don't want to see progress and fact. Instead they appeal to some isolated incident to whip hate and thwarted any progress in Africa by sidelining or even rupture relation between China and Africa . Which for most part benefit Africa more than China! China is still poor country and she committed 100 billion hard earned money for Africa development. Which for me is nonsensical since there are still million of poor Chinese! I think Chinese government is overly generous to Africa about time they take care of their people first. If they like west better go ahead beg the west for aid!
