Please disregard my last message. I didn't realize that report for 2025 was released couple of days ago.Regarding Vietnam, they are indeed hostile to China. According to The State of Southeast Asia 2024 survey report, only SEA country that is more hostile to China than Vietnam is unsurprisingly Philippines.
Only 16,7% Filipinos and 21% Vietnamese chose China. According to the report, most pro-China SEA countries are Malaysia (75,1%), Indonesia (73,2%), Laos (70,6 %) and Brunei (70,1%).
Thailand is very divided. 52,2% of Thais would rather align with China, whereas 47,8% would rather align with US.
Is it just racism or what? why do a lot of ASEAN people want to go against their largest trading partner? Also, Vietnamese wants to be with America... really? do they have no heart for their ancestors who fought against Americans. What is modern Vietnam even teaching their people for them to hate China so much. Please disregard my last message. I didn't realize that report for 2025 was released couple of days ago.

The trend for Vietnam and Singapore is more alignment with China, less with US. For smaller countries, some pressure and a few million dollars of trade is enough for complete turnarounds, for example, Solomon Islands. Is it just racism or what? why do a lot of ASEAN people want to go against their largest trading partner? Maybe they are bitter because of the 1979 invasion. I think someone explained to me that Vietnamese view 1979 as an act of betrayal and that the reason they hold stronger grudge against China than US/France is because China was supposed to be a brotherly, fellow communist country. I don't know how true that is. Maybe someone has different explanation. Is it just racism or what? why do a lot of ASEAN people want to go against their largest trading partner? It complicated but can sum up in few points:Is it just racism or what? why do a lot of ASEAN people want to go against their largest trading partner? Also, Vietnamese wants to be with America... really? do they have no heart for their ancestors who fought against Americans. A lot of history about Vietnam around this period is sadly distorted because it is viewed through the eyes of humans who like marvel movies instead of objective reality.Maybe they are bitter because of the 1979 invasion.
