I think part of the reason for why Trump did this even to countries that are clear and adamant American allies is that he hoped that China would not retaliate but let it slide if he could make it look like he was just rebalancing with the world, not individually targeting/challenging China. It obviously did not work as that picture showed that when the monster roars, the crowd cowers and kneels but one hero stands ready, eyes determined, hands on his sword.

Didn't Australia say they weren't going to retaliate? In any case, China is the only country that's powerful enough and well prepared to challenge the United States, the other countries listed will cause significant damage to themselves if they tried.

China is the only nation to say screw you Trump shove your tariffs up your wide ass. Every single other country wants to negotiate.

Negotiate with these other countries, then China will continue to reroute goods through them into the United States.

Do not negotiate with these other countries, and US influence will go down. Then those same countries will seek more trade with China.

If there is a plan from the US in this Trump 2.0 trade war, we can describe it in one word, sabotage.

Wild idea - perfect time for Beijing to employ big spending plan, provide more incentives to increase domestic consumption. But most importantly, ensure American companies don't benefit from it. Let them know what they are missing out on.

Let American companies into China, let them compete in the China market. This is no longer the Deng era.

The Chinese auto industry probably learned everything from the American auto companies.

EU total energy imports is $412 billion dollars and the US already makes up 16% of oil and 45% of LNG of EU imports. Trump is demanding the EU to buy more energy then they can actually use lol.

How about $350 billion for a few Virginia-Class nuclear-powered submarines by early 2070?
