What the hell, DeepSeek R1 in Chinese is super funny and human like, here's someone asking it how does it feel about making headlines in recent days:

That's some wild Chinese training data, like as if they trained it based on weibo memelord or something. I dig how it keeps referring to the person interacting with it as "you mankind".

"You can't blame me if Nvidia's share price drops, what's next Jensen Huang's leather jacket loses a button and you'll blame that on me too?"
"next time the server goes down cus you're all ddosing me can you not screenshot it and post all over weibo, even AI like me don't want to lose face".
压力再大也要坚持开源,谁闭源谁是狗
No matter how much pressure we face, we must persist in open-source; whoever closes their source is a dog.

This fool finna find out just like Yang and Vivek did that all his hanjian at most will only get him a top bunk in the coming concentration camps being built by Trump.
Funny enough this guy happens to get it more than most ABC hanjians do.

Considering how many ABCs were brought up to to believe in nothing but the pursuit of the American middle class dream it doesn't justify, but its also not hard to see why so many believe an American single family home is an adequate bargain for their souls. (Tbf when you think about it, the value of an American single family home nowadays is way more than what Judas got.)

With that kind of upbringing, you can't expect many to follow their conscience. And that's all it really comes down to in the end right? Conscience. For my part, I'll admit that there's not really much about me that's Chinese. To put it simply......
  1. Language skills: At the level of a 10 year old.
  2. Knowledge of Chinese social etiquette: Non-existant since I didn't grow up there. Even in social settings where the level of conversation is enough for me to get by on my Chinese, I always still end up making a fool of myself due to lack of knowledge of Chinese behavior.
  3. Taste in media: Won't lie, its still mostly Western. Even in school I was the one Asian kid who wasn't into Japanese and Korean stuff. Today, I consume a decent amount of Chinese stuff, but still mostly stick to Hollywood movies and European art. I mostly cook Western food at home, while I suck at cooking Chinese food unless its something even a dumb dumb can make like 红烧.
  4. Attitude: Westernized and tbh, there is very little I would change about it since my past experiences made me who I am.
But in the end, there are principles to stand by in this world and here are mine. To be blunt, I don't care about alot of the values ABCs hold dear. I don't care about the property values of their neighborhood or their careers, I don't care about how much White people like Asian food nowadays, I don't care if its true Western girls today really do think Hyun Bin is the next Brad Pitt. What I care more about is dignity and the right to self-determination. How does one measure that? With this one simple question, for all the comforts Americans have afforded Asians, will they ever be comfortable handing us the keys and trusting us in steering their fate? I'm pretty sure deep down, even this Alexandr Wang fellow knows the answer to that question.

And so what if this "sale" which has zero indication from anyone (not even famously loud Trump) but only some nameless state department mouthpiece journalists DOESN'T come through???

You wanna make those insane claims like kill switch this, Beijing weak hand that, then what do you say when the reverse proves true as always?

If:

1. Tiktok maintains extraterritorial rights until Trump back tracks the law

2. US fails to meaningfully retaliate over having its AI sector caved in by Bytedance and Deepseek

Then you better hold up to your words and assume revaluation of how strong the US along with admitting China's supreme kill switch over US.

Tired of people falling for the same feeble state department lies over and over. If even Trump or Musk doesn't say a sale is being considered, it is bottom level evidence!
I said, if the rumors are true.

Also, Trump / Elon would never announce a back door deal until it's signed & complete, but believing this is totally made up is also foolish; likely it is the US negotiating position.

As far as kill switches go, all I know is that the US completely shut out Huawei smart phones from the global market via sanctions. During its height, Huawei was above Apple in total sales and was just about to over take Samsung. Yes, Huawei is making a come back now, but only in China. Its market share outside of China was completely destroyed by the Trump administration, so excuse me for thinking it might be the same threat they're using against Byte Dance today.

If this "global operations sale" goes through, it should force a reevaluation in this community of how strong Beijing believes its hand actually is. The only way I can see Beijing cave to this degree is if it believes the US has a "kill switch" on the Chinese economy or at least Chinese consumer software (which, to be fair, it does in the form of a global App. Store ban - 99% of the world outside of China still use Android or Apple), such that there is no choice but to do a face saving "sale".

I agree that $200 billion is no where close to the strategic compensation you'd want to surrender Tik Tok, especially since the sanctions on high-end chips & GPUs aren't going away.
what is that kill switch? First phone call of Trump as President was to MBS. and he wants $1T Saudi investments to make a visit.
i dont think this is about some paper money shuffling but bargaining on practical actions that not easy to implement. US provides Boeing to Arabs that can deal with high tempo operation of Desert. it does not matter whether Boeing is in decline for rest of the world.
Russia trying to make Iran business oriented by integrating into Arabic economic system and Putin is now even more indirect in its approach to Syria by sending Belarus FM. but Saudis put as separate news clip. Real problem is Turkey. when you look at history of Ottoman empire that stayed so long despite in conflict with Russian empire was due to Arabic ideology and Europe. but if Russia put muslims in command on this scale and tech access/development that is happening. it can make very short work of Turkey. Trump just need to remove that Nato backing. Things that are important to Gulf monarchies depends on US not China. AI is not making a difference currently.

Basically Deepseek replaced Rednote as #1... yesterday someone was still lamenting that there was no hope of Deepseek ever going mainstream since even Claude hadnt managed in all this time to get anywhere close to Chatgpt in rankings on appstore, and then one day later.....

China this is too much winning!!
