Just hire someone in China to make a DeepSeek knockoff.
They will offer 5m and then claim the model didn’t reach their expectations and end up not even paying up. This is basically what happened with Su-57 btw. India either didn’t want to pay or they couldn’t afford it so they withdrew from the program claiming some BS about underperformance

As I’ve stated previously, only XJP Thought can save America.

What’s likely to happen instead is that the U.S. government will simply continue and increase catering to tech oligarchs, like future trillionaires Musk, Bezos, Zuck, and even Altman, unlike the more optimal superior approach Xi Jinping demonstrated by reining in Big Tech timely.

They’ll ignorantly keep pouring billions into outdated AI projects while banning companies like DeepSeek from operating in the West.

They’re doubling down on these pointless investments while turning a blind eye to real innovation like DeepSeek. It’s not about fostering progress or technology, it’s about consolidating power, and control, and living out their fantasies of being modern sci-fi feudal lords.

This strategy just allows mediocre, corrupt domestic tech giants to strengthen their grip on the market, propping up their techno-feudal, rent-seeking empires.

And of course, they’ll keep adding more top-tier superior Chinese companies like Unitree to their blacklist, joining names like Huawei, TikTok, DJI, and others.

When they can’t compete, they ban and ordinary people pay the price, it’s as simple as that, oligarchs can't lose now. It’s honestly absurd how clownish and plutocratic the U.S. has become. And they’ll keep at it, right until the whole system finally comes crashing down soon.

Rest of it I get but why does Serpentza eat like he has free healthcare?
Imagine realizing the rest of your 'career' is the making of shitty clickbait videos against <x>, endlessly with a monthly quota on videos uploaded and engagement, or the USG payment agent stops giving you a paycheck.

Imagine that <x> is an unstoppable tsunami headed towards you, where everything you throw at it seems to just disappear against the advancing wall of water, or spawns a new wave that relentlessly trolls your private inboxes.

What's more, imagine that it is legitimately hard if not impossible to find genuine evidence incriminating <x> that doesn't incriminate your own country 10x.

I too would hit up Burger King like never before.

The Boring Company

Tunnels lmao, do Americans know how lame this looks.
This is one Tesla car crash away from a lithium inferno deathtrap. There isn't enough space to even escape on foot if some kind of deadly pileup happens. Good place for hobos though, although the fluorescent lighting would interfere with vein identification for fentanyl injections

This whole DeepSeek moment is like imagining an MMA fighter who’s a 1/10 in wrestling (representing hardware) while their opponent is a 10/10. Wrestling here is the equivalent of hardware innovation and the analogy is the US/China competition in general.

Now, when it comes to striking (software), this fighter used to have the edge, sitting at a solid 9/10 while their opponent seemingly lagged behind. But now, out of nowhere, their opponent jumps to a perfect 10/10 in striking TOO, completely leapfrogging them.

How do you even compete with that? You're outclassed in every area—it’s game over.

Or better said It’s game over in the long-term real-life geopolitical competition, but in the short term, the U.S. can still prop up its artificial big-tech bubble by banning DeepSeek from operating in the West and thus saving the whole system (stock market) for a while.

So Qwen and DeepSeek put an end to this trick....

The US made it work with Iphone vs andriod and in the AI era the plan was for OpenAI to be closed frontier and Llama to be lagging open source.... and no one else can squeeze in, entire AI ecosystem would be all American, full stack USA

Like USD + bitcoin etc

Except they didnt count on the whale....

This is what I call a Quantum Pincer move in the age of AI Weiqi

Well played by China

671b is the full size R1, you need a machine that's at least half a million dollars to run it. So that's real companies voting with their wallet.
Why the hell would someone want zero in their prod though? Isn't the non-zero just straight up better since it has both cold start and RL?

Deepseek open sourced the weights, and published papers on how they did it with only $5 million budget.

This means any country or large enterprise on the planet can make their own o1 and o3 etc now....

I think the US saw this coming, hence the rush of Biden admin to get the AI Diffusion regulation out the door...

The remaining chokeholds are GPU and by extension EUV. This is why US split the world into a Tiers of physical AI chips access etc... and why they are building AI datacenters all over the nation....

They want AI (via GPU and EUV moat) to be the new OPEC via StarGATE API, and to collect global AI tax (External Revenue Service)

Zero for research and likely as part of making their own models
