Wow China was granted mercy by Empress Yellen. God bless the US that it had the magnanimity to spare China from labelling it the all-feared and powerful "Currency Manipulator" term.

News have reported that Xi was literally shaking in his home awaiting the final decision by the God Emperor US. Sources have said that upon hearing the result, Xi personally ordered for 1000 tons of gold to be sent to the White House to express his thanks to the emperor.

Good guy US protects little China once again!
Are they going to label vietnam as currency manipulator, since it has already satisfied all required criteria?

That nation is not falling apart because of population growth what are you on about. It's falling apart because its human capital stinks. Those are not one and the same.

Australia has the highest population growth rate in the Western World, you probably think it's on the bring of collapse or will be if it continues this path, yet they are trying to turn it into another America over the long-term (excluding that lowest rung of human capital the US is now stuck with for all time). And yet if we are alive in your techno-future immortal world in 100 years we are gonna be fucking cursing our 'luck' about the USA (United States of Australia), with it's couple hundred million Anglos that now have to be dealt with in addition to the US if it's still functioning. Great!

It won't be luck though, we know it's happening right before our very own eyes, but we have people today right now denying the reality.

Look, Chinese are capable people and I don't think having less of them is going to be the solution until we really do have the tech you claim is going to exist (with apparently 100% certainty on your part). You are gambling with the demographic future of the Chinese people. You want to end up like Japan?

Japanese have been coping this same shit since the 1980s, about the robots that are coming to save them any day now from aging. How's Japan looking now? With each passing decade the relative power difference between them and the US expands. People forget that Japan had close the population of the US at one point! And had the level of economic influence that pretty much equaled it!

Due to the petrodollar hegemony, the US standard of living is propped up artificially by basically the entire world.... and its a taxation on all the other nations of the world due to the US dollar reserve currency status... in order for US to increase its population by three times as you suggested, and if it hopes to even resemble anything close to its current (already faltering) lifestyle/way of life, it would need another three earths to colonize in order to prop up the "exorbitant" privilege!

Even if China makes no other changes, giving its current trajectory, in the future China will have WAY more people that are jobless than people who have a job, because all the menial labor jobs, even most of the "professional" jobs, will be either been done away with, displaced, and/or in some fashion or another eclipsed or made obsolete by the combination of AI and automation advancement and restructurings of the future... the overwhelming worry is too many people and not enough jobs, not too many jobs and not enough people... anyone who cannot see this obvious trend has blinders on and are in denial of the facts of reality... a near fully automated society of the future China can maintain its GDP with maybe only 10% of the current workforce it has now... what are the other 90% going to do? And you want there to be more people? for what?

Given the realities of Peak Oil, of declining EROEI energy thresholds, and of climate change, ecological depletion and other realities to the limits of earth's resource and carrying capacities, it is already the case that the rate limiting factor to growth is not human population or even AI productivity nor "efficiency savings" but rather the limits to available resources that can be brought to use... With that understanding, every civilization should strive for conservation and also automation, to get the most productivity out of the minimum resources expended and to have a population level just large enough to maintain a high standard of living but not so large in excess that it starts contributing to more than necessary rapid depletion of earth remaining energy and resources that are required to achieve that standard of living /per capita in the first place... put simply, with AI we can have the best of both worlds in terms of a wealthy per capita lifestyle whilst maintaining a very low global population so that we can mitigate and manage the remaining resources we have left on earth whilst affording everyone a relatively higher standard of living / gdp per capita etc .... to propose a race to infinite in terms of human population growth when we already have 8 billion mouths to feed on earth is absolute madness and sheer crazy

But why should the US be surprised by their detection? If they are so delusional that they think their submarines are super duper alien technology then lol.

I now understand why the PLAN is obsessed with the type 056 ships. If they capable of detecting these subs then the PLAN will swarm the whole SCS with them
Are these US subs very quiet? The Chinese must be cranking out more type 054 and type 056, now that they have made a big achievement.

We are on the brink of solving AGI.... did you see the AlphaGo deep learning that beat the best human Pro go players? People thought it was still at least 10 years away, many Go professionals believed computers could never bet the top pros in the game... yet not only can AI beat the top humans, but handily... right now on my RTX3090 GPU, I can run KataGo AI on my own desktop gaming PC and beat the world's top pro while giving them 2 or 3 handicap stone advantage! Imagine that! When Google first tested their secret Go AI project back in 2015 it got some wins over Fan Hui (a low pro) but back then they had the use an entire datacenter of thousands of GPU! Then only a few years later, when Google's more advanced version of Alpha Go beat Ke Jie (top human go player) it only used 1 TPU (Tensor Processor Unit, kinda like Nvidia GPU but custom ASIC that Google made in-house and fabbed by TSMC)

Google Deepmind published a few papers on how they did it, the community recreated Alpha in terms of Leela Zero and then KataGo and how its optimized to run just as strong if not much stronger than the strongest version of Google's AlphaGoZero but on a single GPU in a command gaming desktop PC! THis would have been impossible just a few years ago.

Your japan example is not valid... all because of timing... Japan peaked in the late 1980s and early 1990s... the "robots" was never going to come save Japan... because back then the best computing things of that day was the NES Nintendo Entertainment System which by the way had a chipset of 4 Mhz processing!

Back then the hardware didn't exists for deep neural networking, machine learning, convoluted neural networks, ANN, etc etc etc
In fact a top of the line smart phone today is more powerful than the top supercomputers back in the 1980s! Back then the network didn't exists to allow 4k streaming, not just videos but streaming video games like the Google Stadia, where everything is on the backend and the game is pixel streamed with very low latency to a 4k monitor and you can play anywhere without any hardware... back then China didn't have 5G and wasn't working on 6G which is 50x faster than 5G

We are on the verge of true AGI, I mean like Skynet but 100x better... it will be fully automated society! Even the new digital Yuan is now Programmatic with its own API!

re: Population Management

People are not light switches. You can't tell them to start making babies for the sake of making babies. It all comes down to economics. It's well known that a wealthy and materially prosperous nation will have population decline. Why? Because the citizenry wants to spend their money on other things besides basic needs and children. Evidence abound.

Interestingly, China's Two Child Policy is largely considered a bust.

Very strange. It seems that the Biden summit will be hot air to soother Biden's ego and this one will be the real summit (not Biden's fake one)

The EU is pissed off at the US for their attempts at killing NordStream2 and potentially turning Europe into another battlefield. This is a preemptive move at one-upmanship.

They're trying to pressure the west/NATO of gaining membership or else. But that all else is a scenario that's a no go or a non starter for Russia and most Russian people. I don't know if Russians will be amenable down the road or the issue of Ukraine is just one of those sticking points that can never be assuage without using military power as the final and sole arbiter to resolve this tension once and for maybe not all.

IIRC, NATO does not allow new members with border disputes. Besides, the Ukrainian economy is dead and they won't be able to pay for any of the war toys they want. Heck, they can't even pay back the loans that they've already taken out.

Forced labor, the sole purpose of the sanction is making people in Xinjiang impoverishment again and undoing all the poverty alleviation Chinese government has accomplished over the years.

All these "accusations" of genocide is really to protect Western cotton industries. It's pretty standard MO when trying to take down your competitor. Make false accusations at your competitor and by the time consumers figured out the truth, it'd be too late to reverse the revenue stream. And the added benefit in this case, is keeping Chinese Muslims in poverty making it easier for foreign nations to radicalize them to be their cannon fodder.

It seems a large part of vietname culture is borrowed, either from the Chinese or French. Maybe it is like some han-jin complex where they feel they are not fully Chinese but also not fully westernize, but since they are program to think west is best, they rebel against the Chinese side since they see them as inferior
Most northern Vietnamese have Han Chinese DNA in them while in the southern where they are more mixed with the Southeast Asian and Pacific islanders cultures.
