Either way? I'd say it's going to go one way, as China has developed its immunity to the West's propaganda from 1450 and Chinese Libtards drip-feeding their venom over the years. Xiaohongshu is basically TikTok without US operation, if Beijing has no issue with foreigners joining Xiaohongshu, it means they'll also allow foreigners to join Douyin.
Ultimately China's reason for separating Douyin and TikTok is the ability for hostile goverment to influence it, a US TikTok ban ironically would solve that problem by giving TikTok a reason to blanket ban all US goverment and US friendly goverment accounts.
What American users will do after TikTok ban has always been the big question, Xiaohongshu just demonstrated what they will, which means at this point US banning TikTok is a much better outcome for China than not.
An observation I've made soft power wise, is that China's actually having quite a bit of success staying true to its roots with its recent cultural promotions, while Japan and South Korea made it big by massively pandering to Anglo tastes. Kpop is of course mostly American R&B with a Korean coat of paint and during the golden age of anime ie. the 90s and 2000s, hardly any of Japan's big shows or games had an actual Japan setting. Sure, Chinese gacha games are heavily Japanese influenced, but they contain lots of Chinese cultural elements. In comparison one of the very first Japanese animes to break out globally was a straight up adaptation of a Swiss children's book, bereft of any Japanese culture.
Not to mention, the XHS episode represents an incredibly succesful case of people to people interactions. People might gawk over Gong Yoo and Lisa, but 2024 has shown us that such images of glamour dissipitates rather quickly once people actually start looking deeper into Korean society and interacting with actual Koreans. For sure, China is still a long ways from the image of orderliness and politeness that Japanese people built up for themselves. But as the past few years have shown us that whenever China sets a goal, its usually accomplished, its always just a matter of when. The cats out of the bag with XHS and all the previous developments, I'm willing to bet nothing now can be done to stop China's march to cultural power on a global scale.

This is how the US wages war. They overthrow sovereign states and build bases right on their competitor's borders, all while pillaging the resources of the occupied entities and making them pay willingly for the occupation. They reshape their entire society, including the education system and media and revise their history to make them hate anyone the US wants them to hate, science and tech to make sure it goes back to the US, calibrate their currency to give the US total control over etc.. If that can't be done, they destabilize that country with sanctions and propaganda, create fake civil wars, create famines, and make life hell for said country until it collapses. The coerce countries into severing ties with their natural partners. They spread propaganda all over the world that promotes hate and resentment against their competitors. They lobby everywhere in the world to block opportunities for their competitors. They import refugees from all over the world for ethnic and linguistic purposes in order to recruit them and send them back to their home countries and have them infiltrate the political, military, social, and economic infrastructure there. This works especially well for ethnic minorities. They make sure to escalate in a very gradual manner over long periods of time and calibrate their victory as to insure it is not total in order to make it hard to justify a nuclear response. They use mercenaries, terrorists, and puppet states to wage wars because they have too many colonies to draw human resources from and it won't produce any serious political backlash at home. They nudge their competition into war and fund their enemies. Finally, they spread propaganda at home to make sure their people are brainwashed enough to consent to these atrocities by framing everyone as the bad guy and themselves as the morally superior and humane ones. Japan, SK, Taiwan, and the Philippines are being held hostage and have been for decades. Their leaders are all Americans disguised as locals.
China engages in non of these activities, so of course the US is far more experienced here and has many more resources to draw on. Do you honestly think the US is afraid of Chinese nukes or stand-off weapons? I advice you to take a quick look at what they are doing to Russia then think again. The US policy isn't to protect its people from nukes. It is to win a nuclear war should there be one, which are two very different things. War waging isn't just about nukes. There are much more powerful weapons than nukes that China could use against the US, but China chooses to do nothing. Nukes are just for stalemates and lashing out after losing. If the PLA is refusing to enter the game until the situation escalates to nuclear war, then the PLA will enter the game too late and way behind other players.
If China succumbs to US pressure and sell Tiktok, that is on China, because as bad as the US is, China is still responsible for defending itself at the end of the day. As long as China hangs on to its non-interference policy, allows the US to corner it on its own border and refuses to expand, the US will have no incentive to pack up and leave the SCS or any other region for that matter. If China doesn't go bother the US on its very own borders or at least outside the SCS, the US will continue to tell China to bang its head against the wall. So what if China has all these capabilities you mentioned? It is stuck in the SCS unable to even liberate Taiwan. The US will pit China against Japan, SK, and Taiwan and laugh its ass to town as they kill their brothers and sisters just as they are doing to Ukraine and Russia as we speak. The least China can do is engage in information and media warfare to tarnish the US reputation. Get some international media going. Open up to the English speaking world. Do documentaries. Do some reporting on US genocidal history. Do some reporting on current US behaviour in the UN and around the world and never ending wars. Do something just do something anything. There are people in Japan that think China and Russia nuked them because of how much brainwashing the US engages in there, so why won't China broadcast some truth? They won't even do an English translation for Weibo or allow international users to browse and register on it freely. The US trashes China everywhere in the world to the point where the whole world hates China and they don't even know why. Uygur this, Tienanmen that. Commie this, CCP that. One party them, two party we. If China is getting bullied and refuses to stand up to the bully, then that is entirely on China, because it has the money and the power to do something about this, and the longer it holds back, the less options to tackle these issues it will have later on. Now if the US was to acquire Greenland, Canada, and the Panama Canal while Russia and China sit idly by as the US more than triples its size, China and Russia would be equally to blame for this, because it would be a move against them.
