As usual the optics matter more than the results. The Donald will not let such a good opportunity to bolster his approval count go to waste. If a Kardashian has already capitalized on the situation, why won’t Trump?

I am cautiously optimistic. This could even be a deal between 真理部 and 抖音 to compensate the latter for the loss of TT. I hope it is not just 抖音 who gets the privilege though. Some competitions between 抖音 and 小红书, and other players, too, would be good for everyone.

On the other hand, I hope that the Chinese authorities have been preparing for this. This could be a Berlin Wall moment for either direction.
