This might actually be the future if China can sustain high rates of economic growth for the next couple of decades. It's all about the economy.
I think it's different for China. I think China is increasingly being seen as an equal of the West, although it's not quite there yet. Japan and South Korea are seen as no more than pets by the West lmao

If Chinese culture (food/language/habits/memes etc) becomes an accepted/celebrated part of the mainstream culture in the West, there is no reason why you will not have Chinese equivalent of consumer companies - and I don't mean the Nayuki/Miniso (Chinese but with Japanese name to appease the Westerners) of the world - but Luckin/Florasis/Anta of the world take significant share from Starbucks/Nike in global markets (not just in China/SE Asia but in the West). So I would actually suggest that the economic growth is contingent on soft power export going forward - especially in terms of how Chinese companies can take more producer surplus (brand is a huge part of Consumer willingness to pay) that I wrote about ad nauseum in the Chinese Economics thread.

I've been lurking and observing and it's true. Rednecks be like "da fuck I go to Rednote and look up American muscle cars and Chinese dudes be debating about how to tune hemi V8 and which parts are good and which are trash. They're more American than half of you lot!"

It's even managed to split 4chan's pol into the "chinks are still bug people and zoomers are retarded and falling for this shit" vs "Chinks are totally blackpilled about the hooked nose tribe and on our side and anyone saying other wise is a panicking glowie" camps.

The rumours about seeing Tiktok refugees on Douyin were true after all, but I haven't seen them yet. The Douyin opening to the rest of the world is big news. This means China approves breaking the down the Great Fire Wall and Bytedance is ready to say goodbye to Tiktok. I also saw a few videos from Chinese state media which strongly suggested China approves of this communication between the Chinese people and the rest of the world.

Well no, the firewall and its associated content management regime is not going away, just that Americans are going to get bombarded with Chinese content that's scrubbed of the things that are inconsistent with Chinese Socialist Core Values as defined by the Party.

I think people think it's a new model, like it will be China's new special social media zone. Also I heard that apparently Hainan is about to drop the Great Firewall. Would be huge if true.

Westerners are about to find out

I mean I would've said that they would drop the wall in Hainan at some point as part of the free port experiment had this XHS thing not happened, but I think the game has changed - forget dropping the wall - you want them in the Chinese ecosystem.

I see Americans writing down cheat sheets of Chinese slang like XSWL/NB/SB/OJBK/YYDS - that is the cultural export that I was talking about earlier.

Bros, if China fumbles this opportunity on a silver platter, I will be so fucking pissed. Even if it has to run at a loss, China should be doing everything it can to Chinapill an entire generation of Westerners. I'm talking tourism, business deals, exchange student programs, the fucking works. For any naysayers: don't think of it as net loss but as the cost of an influence campaign—the single most effective influence campaign the Americans handed to us.
