Looks like he went into a bar mid-day and told all the schmucks getting drunk there he'd pay their tabs if they wore a red hat, smiled, and took a pic with him.
That's just this isn't it:

TOKYO -- The Japanese government is expected to invite Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Japan next month, seeking to pave the way for a state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Moves to host the leader of the world's second-biggest economy began last year when Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya and national security adviser Takeo Akiba made separate trips to Beijing. The next step will have senior Chinese officials visiting Japan.
Tokyo's interest in engaging Xi comes as the countries look to improve relations strained by China's assertive behavior in the East China and the South China seas, among other issues. A state visit by Xi to Japan is seen as essential to put ties on a better track.
"China is particular about state visits," said a senior Japanese Foreign Ministry official. "There are still many hurdles to overcome, but we need to create an environment where we can talk frankly with Xi in order to move forward with any issue."
Both the Japanese and Chinese governments have in mind a state visit to Japan by Xi, which was postponed in 2020 early into the COVID-19 pandemic. The state visit would include a banquet hosted by Japan's emperor and empress at the Imperial Palace.
Since taking office as president in 2013, Xi only visited Japan for the 2019 Group of 20 summit in Osaka and has never made a solo trip.
With Donald Trump to be sworn into office on Jan. 20, the president-elect's Asia policy remains unclear. The U.S. military has predicted that a Taiwan crisis will occur in 2027, which comes under Trump's term.
Japan is looking to stabilize relations with China to avoid conflict in East Asia.
When preparing for Xi's state visit to Japan in 2020, then-Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited China in 2018 and 2019. Current Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has expressed a desire to visit China.

Those who join willingly were always offered better terms than those who did not. See Yuan.
That's exactly why Trump acts like this. He wants to look tough and aggressive to electrify his base but he knows his mental acuity is not ready for the exchange of words if he threatened to annex territory from actual foes like China and Russia... or even North Korea. So the only people left to bully are his own mutts. A man may be too crippled to hunt but he will eat his own dogs and horse before he starves to death. It is funny how Trump is pushing the Europeans away like this when their leaders are literally the perfect bitches, now they lost a large portion of its cannon fodder, good job to the orange man, maximum clappings ahoy
I think in tourist places that give PLA service members preferential treatment if you could provide ID showing you are part of ROC armed forces you get the same treatment.More 1450 influenced garbage.
1. All Taiwanese are considered Chinese citizens under mainland law already and has always been.
2. Taiwan compatriot permit is nothing new and was issued since the 80’s originally to help facilitate travel for businesspeople
3. Dual SIM phones were basically created for Greater China travellers and have been popular to the point that Apple creates a special iPhone model for this market.
4. Veterans are one of the most popular cross-strait travelling groups. Many were homesick and never felt Taiwan was “home”.
5. Generally insulting tone like these people don’t know what they are doing. They aren’t stupid and illiterate I’m sure. In fact, my literally illiterate late grandma had signed up for the HK equivalent to travel to her hometown and knew exactly what she was doing.
