Its all relative I think. Sure its messed up. But there are levels to this with the highest being inherently messed up with no way of ever been fixed. One reason I believe is because of human capital. There enough Chinese or part Chinese guys to try and make something out of the country no matter how bad it is. They can be somewhat taught.
What we need is a complete change in our political system, we need to undergo a bloody revolution to make a clean start, you have witness the physical fissure when your president is from Northern Luzon and your VP is from Mindanao. That in itself a reflection of the division inside the country, if the Duterte's are being treated unkindly or assassinated, you will see Mindanao seceding with the Visayas (except for Tacloban city) following suit, for these 2 regions they see the people from Luzon especially Imperial Manila as colonizer and an extension of the US and oligarchy rule.

See, but this was during Duterte. He has always been known to act and get results even as a mayor. If the Marawi siege were to happen under Marcos Jr., half of Mindanao would have been under ISIS/Maute control. There’s a reason Marcos Sr. preferred his sister over him. People around the family knew that his father did not see him as someone who had the acumen for governance. As much of an American stooge Marcos Sr. was, at least much of his action were predicated with some sense of nationalism. Marcos Jr. doesn’t have that. He’s simply a spoiled coked-up, western-educated Amboy.
