I don't really see why they should though. Before invading, give the military government a few years to turn things into pure shit first.

Hard to say, the US have been fucking up coups and colour revolutions left and right since HK. I think this is just organic ROK internal politics. Coups are super common after all this is the sixth Republic of Korea, Yoon is just unsuitable to be President and had to do this to save his ass.

No, SK has been under heavy economic pressure due to the ongoing cold war.
Yoon was(is) supposed to be US' puppet, but because of said pressure, he had become a lame duck with no authority, hated by most of the population.
The thing is, when US selects a puppet, they're not able to select the best or the brightest. In Yoon's case, they had selected someone extremely stupid. Much like Saddam was. This coup was nothing but Yoon's knee jerk reaction.
what matters is if the US supports or not the coup. They have indeed chose poorly with Yoon, but at such critical juncture I am not sure the US can afford the left in power. Yoon probably knows that which is why he made this move
