I dunno, I keep poking and beating it with a stick and it doesn't move. It used to but not anymore. Is it playing dead? I'm starting to think this thing doesn't like playing with me very much for some odd reason I can't imagine...

Dude, he's blocked you for weeks if not a month.

Again, I feel like blocking this guy is basically ceding the space to him. He should be banned. If he returns, IP ban him. If not the mods, certainly the Webmaster should know where this guy is connecting from, and it should be trivial to get an analysis on when this guy posts. From there, you can pretty easily extrapolate general location.

A guy who can pull that many misleading graphs out of his ass can definitely pull up an IP masker as well. We should stop responding to him.

Canada begins process to impose tariffs on Chinese batteries, critical minerals

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland says the required consultation period to impose tariffs on more clean energy goods coming from China will begin today.

The move follows a decision in August to hike tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles from six to 106 per cent effective Oct. 1.

Tariffs of 25 per cent will be applied to some steel and aluminum products made in China on Oct. 15.
Freeland says now a 30-day Customs Tariff Act review will begin to study the need for tariffs on batteries, battery parts, semiconductors, critical minerals and metals and solar products.

If tariffs are imposed, it would bring Canada in line with the United States, which announced plans to increase tariffs on similar items in the spring.

Last week China launched a complaint at the World Trade Organization over Canada's EV tariffs, and is launching its own anti-dumping investigation in Canadian canola imports.

Freeland: Trade wars are good, and easy to win!

IMO CPC should move capital from Beijing. Capital is meant to be a defensive administration center. It doesnt need much economy power. Just housing the government worker and feed them is enough. I get Beijing has symbolism, but so does xian. Xian is the perfect compromise between beijing(rich and easy target) and yan'an (extremely defendible)

There is no more eight nation alliance, but naval missiles will hit Beijing far easier than Xi'an. Ballistic missiles will go over many layers of defense to Xian. Not fool proof, but every missile wasted counts.

kinda like Moscow vs St.Petersberg
It is the opposite, China always put capital closer to the front line. Xi'an was close to the threat from north west all the way to the Song dynasty when the main threat moved from north west to north east from Kithan and Jurchen. Since that time north west was never a threat. Ming put capital in Beijing wasn't special unlike many people would say.

Having the capital close to the front line is not only for commanding purpose but (more IMO) also for pschological purpose to keep both the ruler and population alert of threat. It is evident that all dynasties enjoying peace far from the threat is short lived. The most long lasting dynasties all put their capital close to threat. Threat is not a problem but a motivation to eliminate and further expand your territory, safety is not a blessing but a curse leading to demise.

Huawei launching its revolutionary cell phone slash tablet on the same day as the new iPhone just feels so….poetic. Let the Anglo western companies suffer, let them fear. My new phone may yet be a Huawei.

Of course, Apple could resolve its problem by giving a controlling stake to the CPC and having a Chinese Communist Party personnel to monitor Apple, paid for by Apple shareholders of course. Let the Americans experience what they wanted of Xiaomi and ZTE.

Despite working in finance, i am actually in favour of this cultural mindset. What exactly do we do in finance that necessitates such large salaries? If not for the mercantilist culture and society of the anglosphere, merchant banking would be relegated to a status below that of plumbers. Farmers, scholars and scientists contribute far, far more to society, and speaking for myself, I only got into finance to get money, otherwise I would’ve been using my science degree for research.

For maximum trolling send Type 075 and RORO ships for amphibious assault exercise. US side can play defense and China can play offense. Winner gets NFT image of President Tsai and President Lai bumping nasties.
