Basically my question is i have been wondering in that list there are Active troops, reserve forces and paramilitary and then total.

What are reserve forces? are they like worse then the active troops or trained less or something?
And what is the paramilitary? i always thought it might have been parachute people what ever they are called.

In an actual war situation how likely are reserve forces and paramilitary likely to be deployed? of course active would be first but just want to know about the other 2.

I was asking a question like this the other day.
I asked why would they need such a reserve after they already have such a big army?
Anyway i was told most of the reserve forces a actually ex-active service men and most of them are enlisted to the reserve forces cause they can receive a extra monthly pay check and other want to service there country but a seem unfit for active service. Therefore most of them have recieve full PLA training before. The funny thing is i was told the People's Armed Police are consider a reserve army force in the time of war.

Your so call Parachute people are call Airborne troop.

Well, the reserve and paramilitary forces would on be deployed for war duties when China its is attacked. They would mainly be on guard duties and supply a large supply of troop to support the active force operation. While militia would exploit guerilla tatical, especially in area which have be over run.

Re: Military FAQ

Ok my next question is how would the British armed forces do against US armed forces?
The reason for my question is because my mate is quite patriotic and thinks that the UK could probably fight off the US, now i had nothing to really argue with him since my military knowledge is really low.
I don't really want anything on the likelihood of this ever happening i just want like a comparison of every part of both of their militaries and how they would do, and who would win.
I am sure that the US navy and air force and fire upon the British navy and air force without them being seen due to higher technology, i have no proof obviously but he was all like, its how the British operate they don't go ahead on and they sneak around and do ambushes i mean how valid is his arguement really?
He also said that the UK would go around the back and start attacking US bases and airfields and disrupt their supply lines, but i always thought with such a large and powerful force heading towards you why bother attack like that since you would probably need everyone to defend, so then i thought in this scenario the UK would get invaded and trashed, and he was like well they could fend off an invasion and i am overestimating the US navy and AF.

Can someone help me beat some sense into him?

Re: Military FAQ

Well I believe it depends strongly on where they are. Is the UK fighting on home turf? Or is it a battle between CBGs in the middle of the Atlantic? Even though my gut instinct tells me the US would win even if the UK had a geographical advantage, the location would be nice to know.

Re: Military FAQ

Well I believe that there is no way the UK could launch some kind of offensive against the US so i think its feasible to believe it would probably be the UK's home turf, so pretty much an invasion by the US and any UK attempt to stop the invasion in its tracks or whatever, or defending itself.

Whats the difference between FM-90 & FM-90N?

Whats the difference between FM-90 & FM-90N? Bangladesh recently signed a contract with China for the procurement of these SAM's and installation work is on progress.

Is the FM-90N the Naval variant of the land based version because I seem to remember that along with those Bangladesh also signed a contract to procure C802 SSM for its frigates and FAC's.

BTW, please post some pictures.
