Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 is Missing

I was watching ABC News this morning and their Pentagon reporter said the Australian's have a special advanced radar called OTH that can see anything for 2000 miles out. I think any one of us in here can have a job reporting from the Pentagon.

It was reported one of the two objects was 80 ft long. All of the sudden an 80ft section of the 777 floating out for at least 10 days is possible?

Australian OTH radar network.

It is possible the network tracked MH370, but it takes time to sort out the radar track and again we can't expect them to reveal too much information that will reveal the capabilities of a sensitive military system. Behind the scene, they are probably using undisclosed sources to help with the search. How about sending a SSN to listen for the black box pings?

I believe ABC News (that's US not Australia's TV network) was suggesting Australia's OTH spotted the wreckage seen from the satellite images since the story is on the heels of that news. Given the debate over China's ASBM and the ability to spot an aircraft carrier with their OTH... at the most OTH will give a general location not a precise one and since this is just a small piece of wreckage bobbing up and down out of the water, how credible is it that Australia's OTH can see the wreckage?

Now it's being reported those satellite images weren't even from Australia. They're from one of the commercial satellite companies in the US asking for the public to scan their images.

It is reported that the Australian P-8A went there and found nothing due bad visibility. I wonder both images last time from China and this time from Australia are all low resolution images. Where have all the military satellites gone?

no country is going to release military grade satellite photos. even if they found something with military satellite, they will only release civilian images from the same area.

Australia does not have any P-8A aircraft. They have P-3C aircraft.

As of yet, only the US has P-8A aircraft, though some P-8I aircraft have been delivered to India.

If it was an Australian aircraft, it was a P-3C. It is was a P-8A, it was a US Navy aircraft.

Now...Australia plans to buy some P-8A aircraft to replace the P-3Cs as they retire...but that has not happened yet.

It was reported that way from the start here in Australia. The first news report on the radio I heard of debris being found on Thursday made mention of the images being from a commercial satellite.

I woke this morning hearing they were from Australian military satellites then several hours later on another news channel said they were from Digitalglobe who passed the information on to the Australian government.

This is the Roaring Forties.
If anything can float and not degrade quickly, debris in this latitude can swirl around the globe for decades. This is also an area where advanced racing and endurance boats regularly come to grief and produce large floating wreckage that could easily look like the kind of objects shown on the news.

My view remains unchanged and will remain unchanged until anything concrete is produced to prove otherwise.
