Seriously mods, why have you not ban this idiot already, judging from his posting record again and again he is doing nothing but trolling and flame bait. Want example? Just read this post.

I see people get banned on this site for doing FAR less than this guy.

You actually approve of the Chinese team behaviour?

Its the Chinese team behaviour that you should be disappointed with rather than the person mentioning it . Turning it around, if news that theAmerican team got fined for behaviour problems it would also find its way on this forum.
and what gives the right for the Chinese team to ignore the established decorum when protesting.? The Canadian team have their grievances , yet they have no problem protesting in the stipulated manner.

" Chinese national cycling team was fined 200 CHF (Swiss franc) for failing to respect instructions from the commissaire for standing on the judges' podium, said a communique issued by the cycling commissaires "

And whats exactly wrong with my comment on the performance

Criticism of that effort was more than justified.I doubt very much that you even watched the China team Sprint race that day Otherwise you would have realised that I was speaking the truth. The fourth team member could not keep up with her three teammates. She even had to drop out which added to their problems. and was thus the course of their failure.

I also blame the coach. It's the team management job to do the protesting not him., He is paid to ensure that the team members were at its bestfor the next event. Clearly he hadn't because of the failure of the 4member team pursuit.. That resulted in another opportunity to gain a medal lost.

For those of you talking about the Chinese cycling medal relegation, this is the view from the Chinese side.

chinadaily.com.cn/cndy/2012-08/04/content_15644267.htm

"We later took a close look at the video replay and studied the rules again. It's the first time this event has been included at the Olympic Games. We found the rules are not complete and do not give a specific explanation of some offenses. That's why we appealed - because we could not find the specific rule to judge our riders' offense."
================================================================================
The organizing committee's official reports said the team had made an early relay, citing a specific regulation. China's appeal letter asserts that the regulation in question was not violated.

The team claims the judges had a bad attitude when asked to watch a replay of the infraction.

About the fine, I can only find a news item in chinese language.

translation:
We believe that this is normal procedure approved by the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale), and is led by UCI officials, Philippe Chevalier, to go on the podium. An officially approved normal working procedures that got deemed to be interfering with the referee, and issued a ticket, is a disregard of the officially sanctioned normal working procedures, and also disregard of China's reasonable appeal for reconsideration

Another news article from China Daily,

chinadaily.com.cn/2012olympics/2012-08/05/content_15645236.htm

LONDON - The Chinese team on Saturday demanded an explanation from the world cycling ruling body UCI on the relegation of the Chinese to silver medal.

The Chinese beat their German rivals in the women's team pursuit final on Thursday, only to be relegated to second place.

The Chinese team reviewed the race video, saying they didn't violate any rules of the sport. China's coach Daniel Morelon said the referees "robbed" his students of a gold medal.

The Chinese team's appeal was rejected and fined 200 CHF for the intrusion into the referees' area.

Pan Zhichen, the Chinese cycling team chief, filed a written complaint to UCI President Pa Maquade on Saturday, demanding an explanation on "why the Chinese cyclists were relegated to silver medal."

Pan said his team would not pay the fine, saying Chinese team members were escorted into the referees' area by UCI officials.

I do not know whether your "state sanctioned" accusation is true or not, but I think regardless, that would have been in the past, not now.

Yeah I saw the news about the Team Cycling fime reported in the China Daily as well

Here it is it took me some time to find the article from the sydney morning herald

"CHINESE Olympians were subjected to a state-sponsored doping regime which was modelled on eastern Europe, says a retired Chinese Olympic doctor.

Steroids and human growth hormones were officially treated as part of ''scientific training'' as China emerged as a sporting power through the 1980s and into the 1990s, she says.

Athletes often did not know what they were being injected with and medical staff who refused to participate were marginalised, she says.

'It was rampant in the 1980s,'' Xue Yinxian told Fairfax, in her home in Beijing's eastern suburbs. ''One had to accept it.''

The testimony of Dr Xue, whose elite roles included chief medical supervisor for the Chinese gymnastic team as it vied with the former Soviet Union for gold medals in the 1980s, will not surprise many veterans of Olympic sports.

She does not allege that all successful Chinese athletes used drugs and has refrained, at this stage, from publicising names.

But it is the first time anyone in the system has publicly contradicted Beijing's line that a slew of embarrassing doping busts, particularly among the Chinese swimming team in the 1990s, was merely the result of ambitious individual athletes and ignorant provincial coaches. Her allegation comes as most of China's 394-strong Olympic team arrives in London for the opening ceremony tonight, London time........."

I find the preference for terms like 'embarrassment' in the less reputable elements of the media distasteful. There is no shame or embarrassment in loosing to a better opponent, and no nation can claim eternal domination of any sport.

Some nations might be very strong in certain fields, but it would be arrogant and a true embarrassment to act as if a certain nation has some birthright to certain medals. That belittles the hard work of the athletes who make a nation's dominance to a sport possible, and it disrespects the competition.

If the officials or athletes of a dominate nation start thinking or acting like they have some god given right to certain golds, then that is as sure-fire way as I known of for that nation to start loosing those medals.

It is hard work and natural talent that earns medals, and a nation only dominates a sport because, and so long as, it's atheletes train harder and better than all opponents, not because of where they are born.

If a nation looses in a sport they had previously dominated, it is disappointing certainly, but never embarrassing or shameful.
