There are many facilities built between finger 4 and 8. What's going to happen to them if we pull back behind finger 8 now? This just seems to me like a partial disengagement, there's no way that all of those infrastructure are just gonna be abandoned like that

Guys, I actually clicked on the link cause I thought it might be legit Russian intelligence and the tweeted picture of the article is just a snippet. The entire TASS "report" is in the picture from the tweet. They didn't mention any sources for the number of casualties.

What’s amazing is that Indians could magically count the number of PLA dead when they admit that they’ve been ambushed and had their entire leadership team either killed or captured. They also claim to have captured and released PLA captives, but the media showed no proof unlike the circus surrounding the capture of lost PLA soldiers this year and last year. Do you honestly believe that the Indian media would stay quiet if the IA had concrete evidence of PLA deaths?

If anything the Indian numbers are all over the place. First they reported five Chinese dead when news of three Indian dead emerged. Then it was 43 when they realized that twenty of their own perished according to “intercepts of Chinese radio”. Then it was 35, then over fifty. Then it was 45. The it is over a hundred. I think it is pretty obvious to a rational bystander that they didn’t have a very good grasp of the situation.

The agreement that we have been able to reach with the Chinese side for disengagement in the Pangong lake area envisages that both sides will cease their forward deployments in a phased, coordinated and verified manner. The Chinese side will keep its troop presence in the North Bank area to east of Finger 8.Reciprocally, the Indian troops will be based at their permanent base at Dhan Singh Thapa Post near Finger 3. A similar action would be taken in the South Bank area by both sides. These are mutual and reciprocal steps and any structures that had been built by both sides since April 2020 in both North and South Bank area will be removed and the landforms will be restored.

If true this seems like a really bad move. Come spring they’ll be back reclaiming all the areas.
