Indians are jumping wild again on the number of dead PLA troops

That's the problem with media outside of China. It's usually the fools who shouts the loudest first that sets the narrative. Because of Chinese ambiguity and restraint. India's had won the narrative race by making sure to get their word out first. In this case, the 43-45 Chinese casualty figure. Western media picked that up, US intelligence picked that up, and now Russian media picked that up.

I understand the reasons for the Chinese restraint. But it is not a reasonable party that China is dealing with. India is not Vietnam or Japan. China may have averted escalating tensions in the short term. But later down the years this 43-100 PLA deaths narrative is gonna become school subjects, Bollywood scripts, documentary narratives, and Wikipedia 'fact'. China would be considered the 'loser' in the minds of the 'free world'. Just like how the 1979 Sino-Vietnam war narrative was spun. All of this will embolden India to take on China again in the future. Because, according to the narrative: "India had won in 2020". They'll blame the loss of territory on something else, be it cowardly leaders or others. Setting up for another confrontation to "right the wrongs".

That being said. I view the current withdrawal plan in the same way. China is too trusting of India. Pulling back now will only relieve tensions for the short term. India will not stop after this. Decades of diplomacy, goodwill, and trade since 1962 didn't stop Indian belligerence. Why should it work this time? Touch wood, if another crisis were to hit China again, India is gonna be back again.

Further more India is actively sponsoring terrorism to attack Pakistan at the CPEC. With the way the US and India are buiidng the Free Tibet narrative. Its only a matter of time when India is gonna sponsor Tibetan terrorists to create havoc on the border area and in Tibet proper. Then what? It is wrong in my opinion for China's underestimate this Indian belligerence to just concentrate of Taiwan. If any crisis were to happen with regards to Taiwan, India will be sure to come back and bite China in the ass.

If true this seems like a really bad move. Come spring they’ll be back reclaiming all the areas.

I think this is why there have been no breakthrough talks on Depsang. China wants to observe how well India follows up with this agreement. If they try anything stupid then they can kiss Depsang goodbye forever.

Official details of agreement by Indian defence minister:

The agreement that we have been able to reach with the Chinese side for disengagement in the Pangong lake area envisages that both sides will cease their forward deployments in a phased, coordinated and verified manner. The Chinese side will keep its troop presence in the North Bank area to east of Finger 8.Reciprocally, the Indian troops will be based at their permanent base at Dhan Singh Thapa Post near Finger 3. A similar action would be taken in the South Bank area by both sides. These are mutual and reciprocal steps and any structures that had been built by both sides since April 2020 in both North and South Bank area will be removed and the landforms will be restored. It has also been agreed to have a temporary moratorium on military activities by both sides in the North Bank, including patrolling to the traditional areas. Patrolling will be resumed only when both sides reach an agreement in diplomatic and military talks that would be held subsequently. The implementation of this agreement has started yesterday in the North and South Bank of the Pangong Lake. It will substantially restore the situation to that existing prior to commencement of the standoff last year.

13. I want to assure this House that in these talks we have not conceded anything. The House should also know that there are still some outstanding issues with regard to deployment and patrolling at some other points along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh. These will be the focus of further discussions with the Chinese side. We have agreed that both sides should achieve complete disengagement at the earliest and abide fully by the bilateral agreements and protocols. By now, the Chinese side is also fully aware of our resolve. It is therefore our expectation that the Chinese side will work with us in full sincerity to resolve these remaining issues.

Also adds talks on other standoff points will continue till a total disengagement reached.

Acquiescing after spending almost the whole winter in Finger 4 and braving snow and ice for 5 months but only to agree now... it seems like the sacrifice has been in vain. With or without the withdrawal India is in the Quad camp now. Moving back, I’m afraid, will show weakness and embolden the IA to further transgressions in the future.

Then again it isn’t the first time an Indian official has made inaccurate reports to the congress. Let’s watch this space and see what unfolds in the next few days. I hope they don’t try and pull off something funky during the Chinese New Years and hope they could get away with it.

Considering that
1.India will remain in Quad.
2. India won't unban Chinese companies operating in the country.
3. India continues to diplomatically be against China.

Why would China be doing what India insists it is doing in North Pangong Tso?

The factors that were holding back China in 2020 does not exist today.
Let's be patient. As always, in a week we'll know the full picture.

I don't trust the "Democrazy" press.

Nothing about the status quo.
