I think it will. The situation with Taiwan is heating up so very unlikely PLA will take more pro-active actions.

You forget it was the Indians who provoked both recent stand-offs.

It might be that America goes out of its way to embolden and courage India to do something to provoke a fight trying to relieve pressure on Taiwan hoping that China would not be able to take action on Taiwan if it is already engaged in a full scale war with India in the west.

There are certainly elements within India who seem desperate to start a fight with China as they have drank too much of their own fake news Kool aid and seems to think they will be in Beijing within weeks of open war.

It is not hard to see this ‘tail’ being able to wag the ‘dog’ if Indian news media launches a concerted war drive and/or local commanders go rogue again, like the dead colonel. Only if they start something new by actually opening fire on the PLA, then that will probably kick everything off. Because thanks to the Modi governments own earlier stupidly of engaging in salami slicing tactics, they have already destroyed any goodwill and understanding there previously existed on the ground, and pushed China to its limit of tolerance. As far as China is concerned, India already have both feet on the proverbial line, and it will not allow India to take one step more.

The kind of almost routine exchanges of fire and deaths on the Indian-Pakistani boarder is not something China will ever tolerate from India.

I do not like to give the BBC credit. But they are not holding back with bashing India's Covid-19 handling. I don't think this one BBC report on India is as distorted as usual. India is an open book afterall.

India is in really, really deep shit. And India is proud to welcome Mike (Liar, Cheater, Thief) Pompeo to sign the Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement (BECA) with the US on Oct 26-27.

India, the world no. 2 Covid-19 champion, wanna sign a scam "alliance" deal with the USA, the no. 1 Covid-19 champion. And millions of people are dying and getting poorer in both countries. Real brothers in arms.

Stephen Biegun, Pompeo's deputy doesn't forget to say this about the deal:

“I should also be clear that the security partnerships the United States and our partners explore today do not necessarily need to follow the model of the last century of mutual defence treaties with a heavy in-country U.S. troop presence,”

What this basically means to those with a brain. Is that India and US are 'allies' on paper when BECA is signed. India can buy all the US arms it wants and prostitute itself to the US. But, no guarantee of US help when war with China does materialise.

India's real enemy is Covid-19. But its China it wants to fight. Well if Modi and gang still wants war with China with America's blessing. Go ask Saakashvili how well did that American promise go when he poked Russia too hard with that same Uncle Sam's blessing.

But anyway, congratulations to India on your ascension to be Uncle Sam's bitch.

Look at the comments, even Indians admit that Modi bungled the Covid response. The illusion had been shattered, the reality had set in, Modi is really incompetent... ;)

it is really sad to see common people in India suffer like this, without food or proper medical care.
I don't know if it is true, but I was told that the Indian Government only takes care of the elites and the middle class, about 200 million people out of 1.3 billions, and the rest be damned. The rich gets what they want, and the poor suffers as they must.
Therefore when faced with the huge COVID crisis, I truly admire the Chinese government's pledge to put people's livelihood and well being first, above all other considerations, even at the expense of the economy. And the CCP Government has done it!! It is now rewarded with overwhelming admiration and support from the population, knowing fully that their Government can be trusted.
So I don't see how India can pursue the conflict aggressively any longer. On India's side is dismal governance, inept military, rising COVID cases, plunging economic prospects, and poor people going without foods. I think the best course of action for the Indians is to pull back their troops from the barren hills, before the poor soldiers are frozen to death under -40 C.

Hi Jono,

but I was told that the Indian Government only takes care of the elites and the middle class, about 200 million

Its inflated, China had 300 million middle class out of 1.4 billion almost the same if we follow Indian official estimate, do the math the actual number is around 60-80 million at most.

it is really sad to see common people in India suffer like this, without food or proper medical care.

The troubling thing is that they are resign to live their lives in destitute. They had no voice and no power and its a continuing cycle, I think it need an outside intervention to break that cycle.
