It is a major geopolitical mistake by the US, a major blunder indeed, Russia and China complement /protect each other, military and economically. with this alliance , Russia can focus and put all its resources in Europe while on China part the pacific.
The purpose of an alliance is your partner can contribute, Japan for military basing and its powerful Navy, Australia a useful nuisance, but India? what is her contribution? Nobody is foolish enough to invade her, its a hellhole. Some so called Indian expert say they will control the Indian Ocean, good luck with that, the US will never allow it especially as the US had a base in Deigo Garcia . Its all for show the US is already strained.
If Im a Indian PM, instead of a military alliance make it an economic one and let those countries proposing it put money were their mouth is and invest. The Quad is a trap for India, it tied them to the US to the detrimental to their Russian friend, who had stuck with them thru hard times. Right now India is reeling from this pandemic, it need all the help it can get , instead she make an enemy to one country that had that capability.
