Lieutenant General
Real Fing stupid place to place artillery if true. You are basically boxed into a narrow strip of land by mountains on both sides. Fish, meet your barrow.

If a shooting war started, PLA artillery is going to have a real easy time wiping them all out. They just need to target the rear of that stretch of land furthers form the Indian artillery unit and walk its barrage to the other end. Zero chance of any Indian artillery surviving that.

But a more realistic scenario would see PLA artillery hit the Indians with accuracy artillery fire with guidance from UAVs and Chinese counter-battery radars, which can back plot the source of incoming artillery fire almost immediately to allow rapid counter battery return fire.

Sounds like they received a whoopin'

This is what actually matters. The Indian executive branch has again confirmed that no 'Waffen-SS blitzkrieg' is coming.

Regarding the "warning shots": For the past 3 decades, the Indian Army has been 'fighting' against civilians in Kashmir, in COIN operations. Most of their operational and tactical mindset, experience and training is geared towards scaring civilians in the streets. The Indian soldiers on the ground in this sector thought that firing 'warning shots' also works against armies. What they didn't realize (because they are still in their COIN mindset) is that if you fire 'warning shots' at another Army, they will return fire.
