What the hell? This isn't 1940s Europe. The PLA will never resort to such low tactics and didn't even in the 50s.
I wouldn't call that a tactic; I would call it a natural reaction to seeing over 30 of your men killed. If I was that commander, the only way they'd go home is all 40+ in one FedEx flat rate box. There is no such thing as surrender if you have killed 30 of my men. But that didn't happen, so they were given a pat on the back and sent home when playtime was over.

And this is not a response to Skye, but in general, Indian media is absolutely terrible at making stories up. I've been reading everything trying to get a gauge on what actually happened and I have heard all sorts of stories all from Indian media. Some say 50 Indians going to check that the PLA had retreated from a position were ambushed by 250 men. Others say it was 55 ambushed by 300. Some say the Indians started burning PLA tents, causing the conflict (so basically not an ambush). Some say that the PLA hunted unarmed Indians down and beat them to death as they ran for cover while others say the PLA surrounded the Indian company and basically beat and tortured them into a mosh pit (with guns pointed to their faces). But the underlying theme seems to be that the Indians were unarmed and fought a PLA force 5-6 times greater in number who were armed with spiked bats and still, with no explanation, somehow managed to inflict twice as many casualties than they had sustained... In the horror and chaos, they counted over 40 PLA deaths, the same people who couldn't properly count to 1 on something as large as an F-16. Indian media LOL.

I think this Global Times article sums it up very well as to why China isn't going to release any casualty numbers. I think this source is probably the most reliable regarding Chinese casualty numbers ... at this point I don't think the Chinese even suffered a single death.
Limited power

According to the number of casualties released by India, observers noted that this is the most severe border confrontation that China and India have experienced in decades, and the best choice for India is to cease provocations and settle down tensions with China through dialogue as soon as possible, and not miscalculate the situation just like what it did in 1962.

When addressing questions about Chinese casualties, Zhao didn't answer the question directly instead he said that border troops are jointly resolving the issue on the ground, and the overall situation at the China-India border remains stable.

A military expert at a Beijing-based military academy who requested anonymity told the Global Times that the reason behind China not releasing the number of casualties is that China does not want people in the two countries to get further impacted, as any comparison of casualties could incite nationalist sentiment on both sides, and such an event is totally unhelpful for the two to ease tensions.

"In other words, if Indian nationalists see the number of fatalities and find out that the Indian military lost more soldiers than China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) did, then the Modi administration and the Indian military would be under huge pressure to escalate and continue their provocations. So staying silent regarding this matter is very wise," he remarked.

Hu said the reason why India released the number of deaths is to gain sympathy from the international community
, but at this moment, all major Western powers are busy handling their domestic problems such as nationwide riots and the pandemic, so no one would and could provide concrete support to India.

Yeah I am also baffled why they are so mad when they scored such a great victory (again) against the Chinese.

most chinese here and their Pakistani concubines don't realise that sino-indian relations have gone back to 60s level and if Chinese and there Pakistani concubines think that there were no fatalities on chinese side and only Indian soldiers died than you lot need to stop watching to much wolf warrior movie and Bollywood in case Pakistani concubines.
I dunno, man, the way your media described it, all the Indians were unarmed, ambushed, and mercilessly beaten by a PLA force 5-6x larger armed with spiked clubs. I really don't see how one guy could kill anyone fighting bare-handed against 5 guys with spiked clubs, much less inflict twice the casualties than he receives... unless your media's just making stuff up. So are they lying about the situation, the number, or everything? Who knows? Do they read their own stories back to themselves even once before publishing? LOL

In the 1962 war, the US and Australia knew India started the war but they perpetuated the lie that it was China. How does the US know what the body count is? Did they have an agent there in brown face or did they have someone tape their eyes to look slanted? How about some satellite pictures where they could count the bodies themselves?

The Indian side celebrated their low-level soldier punching a Chinese officer. After that it's been all anger from them. They were so angry that they had that app to remove all Chinese apps from their phones. If they scored more bodies from the PLA compared to the only twenty they lost, why are they still angry? They beat the Chinese. I remember reading a few months ago how India was bragging about construction they were conducting on their side of border but they get angry when China does it... Indians have the courtesy culture where they will lie to someone if they believe the person they're lying to would rather hear the lie than the truth. Everyone knows it's a lie hence that's where the anger comes in.
