I'm sure India loves the whole process of being courted by top Western defense companies. That's why the whole process took this long. Wasn't it around the same time China bought the Su-35 and they already received their order before India got one Rafale.

It was a secret until they wrote a story about it for the whole world to see.
An ancient caravan trade route between Ladakh and Kashgar (now in Xinjiang, China) has been revived by India as an alternative route to access the vital Sub-Sector North (SSN) in Ladakh. The Karakoram pass, Depsang plains and the airfield at Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) are part of the SSN.
The PLA will also be having not one but many routes if they start opening. So the Indians should not be too happy with just one route.

Let see what are the conditions which will work out between the two nations.
What will be the course of action

So it appears all those bhakts who were arrogantly adamant PLA could not have occupied disputed land and driven out the IA with ease, were all wrong then. It's getting clearer the IA got their asses flogged so hard they couldn't do a single thing about PLA to do as it sees fit inside disputed zones.

They were also lying about PLA retreats the n times they made those claims with out of context random satellite images of unspecified terrain.

lol these idiots should have no face left but shame and modesty is not a part of the Indian identity.

It's just such a weird progression. First, India tries to strong-arm France (lolz). And then the French turn around and fleece India, to epic proportions. What India should have done, after it screwed up the MRCA deal, was just go with the other Euro or American options (which they already vetted for the MRCA competition)... The fact that they went back to Dassault and accepted this deal blows my mind.

This whole episode is a perfect example of how inept the Indian procurement process is. It does not bode well for the 'Make in India' program, because all this drama will now be playing out with even less competition, as foreign products are blocked out of the domestic market. Normally, that's a good thing as it helps the domestic industry, but India's local manufacturers are going to be running amok, with (apparently) zero oversight and no real pressure to deliver. It's going to be Arjun+Tejas+INSAS disasters x100. I think this is also because the defense manufacturers in India don't have the requisite esprit de corps. They are much more interested in making money. Otherwise, they wouldn't have screwed up the MRCA deal.

I'm guessing France solved it by going to an important Indian official and saying "if you ok this deal you get 1 million rupees per plane we sell"

probably, but did someone also pay their supreme court to drop the investigation? It's a rabbit hole man. It's either ineptness or corruptness, or both.

In PDF, there was this one Indian poster back in July who literally rotated the satellite image 180 degrees to show that the Chinese encampment in Galwan was actually on the Chinese side of the LAC. These people have to be some of the most delusional I've ever seen ... on the bright side, they provide my daily dose of comical relief :p .
