Felt like reading one long complaint letter. I had to check the name twice to make sure but this was penned by a general.
"China has more enemies than friends."
China has strong ties (trade or otherwise) to many so called 'enemies'. I don't understand why Germany continues to build cars, France supply helicopter (with military spillover applications) and Japan has increased investments into China (12 Billion sweet sky-daddy dollar cash in 2019).
China recently (Xi Jingping) made overtures to the Vietnamese communist leadership emphasizing the need for stronger ties and vision for shared future. If these are the enemies, China should want more of them. I'd like to know what 'friends' or 'enemies' mean for India.
"In hindsight, it was seen that the gamble failed as China managed to deceive the US and become a power that now seeks to overthrow its hegemony."
What did this retired Indian military general or any Indians wished for China to have done is acquiesced and became subservient to the U.S. interest and remain prisoner, wedded to American hegemony in Asia-Pacific? And when did China or any previous Chinese leadership ever made a promise both implicit and explicit that China wasn't angling to become powerful as it was eons ago like any country of her history, culture, and size would? And who made the U.S. the world's policeman? Who voted for her to become the sole hegemonic country in the world. I am sure that the general officer, being a proud Indian that he is would have wanted the same power projection and stance that China for India all things being equal.
"China’s aim, which is to contain India to the subcontinent."
China aims within the subcontinent can't be simplisticly blamed on China alone as if India didn't play a part in this current geopolitical competition. How is it that from the preceding centuries and millenia that both China and India managed to co-exist without resorting to any armed conflict, border clashes and this growing enmity that now engulf both countries. But ever since the Anglo-Saxon incursion and cultural raped it made in both countries the mindset, attitude have grown that of mutual respect and admiration to envy and subjugation. Hint, it wasn't that China changed for the worst or became an imperialistic power, it's that India has become delusional in it's power illusion and ambition to become the "hegemonic" power within the subcontinent and doesn't want to be challenged and contested by China.
Lastly, the general have expressed so many things without actually saying anything of substance. If I can sum up what he said: China has more options and weapons at it's disposal but it has more enemies. India sucks in every major category to put up an actual fight against China but at least we're not hated because we have a lot of friends. More like fake friends.
The rest of the article are useless.
