I am simply countering xsizor's assertion that there is a buffer zone excusively on India's side of the lac. Everything I have said is going by his logic, not mine.
Okay I haven't read pages of back and forth bickering about troop positions BECAUSE satellites available to us do not show troop movement or even good enough to really show troops in every case where troops are present. It may show 10% of troop positions but not enough to build a picture and definitely not good enough to build a picture of movement.
It seems stupid to say that China lost control of land when in historic context, China's won 10 steps and now with standoff, pushed in another 2 and at best gave one step back to India while demanding India take a step back itself. That's still a net 2 step forward and historically, 12 steps forward applying this analogy.
This is why there are so many high profile Indians claiming that China has taken so much land (with their estimates and what they consider lost land varying by a lot)... of course this is all in reference to disputed land. Since the entire spat for the entire duration has been over disputed land and not mutually recognised and respected borders.
