I don't think this is the simulator, it is real interior on the JF-17.

Seems NICE!

Re: JF-17: New Pics

The photos of the JF-17 cockpit indicate that it is a potentially good 4th gen combat aircraft. But detailed specifications must also be known. It has a number of MFDs and displays indicates that a lot of processed data shall be given to the pilot. This indicates advancement of the avionics.
It thus appears euivalent to the Grippen since it is of a similar size and weapons-carrying capability.

If the SD-10 and PL-9 missiles are equivalent to AMRAAM and Sidewinder missiles as China claims, then the JF-17= Grippen, according to me and also
J-10 = Block 52 F-16.

Just for some comparison, following is latest LCA cockpit from PV-2:

I admit the JF-17 cockpit is slightly better (it has larger MFDs).

Grippen's DECISIVE advantage over its competitors is the data link-something that's superior to even the American Link 16. Why? Because it's more of an interplatform (Grippen optimized) link. The Swedes have always been very advanced in this field (the Draken was the FIRST data linked fighter). The advantages of a good datalink CANNOT be overestimated in modern air combat, as the entire world is switching to netcentric warfare. This is why you see BMS on modern tanks, UAV for recon, and increased digital integration between service branches. I wouldn't be surprised if something like land warrior starts popping out in the next decade.

Re: JF-17: New Pics

Well as i've said before Pakistan and China are using the FC-17 to attract
countries who might have decided to buy the F-16 as a marketing exercise
after which they might decide to switch to buying MORE chinese gear.

Which is good reason to call FC-17 the 'money maker'.

How many countries can afford the F-22 even IF america decides to export it
to them ?

Su-30 MKIs can create a mini-AWAC amongst themselves to close in on the targets in a pincer-like movement (it is unavailable in the Grippen because of lesser radar range). It does not require pilot intervention. The interlinking of Su-30 MKIs is also quite sophisticated.

There were news reports that the JF-17 prototype04 was ready to be test-flighted in a few days time. Has it occurred ? Again, I would like to know the avionics package for the Chinese JF-17-especially the radar, since the sinodefence site mentions the possibility of adding Kopyo or Israeli radars.

In Pakdef forums there were reports that the Selex Vixen AESA radar shall be selected for the JF-17. Is that true ? I know that Vixen has been offered for LCA but has been offered for JF-17 also ?

Yeah, the su-30MKs have the pods that can allow it direct other su-30s. Definitely a good function. Actually, even su-27 have datalink, but it probably can't act as a mini-AWACS. Gripen's datalink is about the only thing it has. It wasn't designed with reduced RCS in mind nor does it have a powerful radar (even for its size). We know that JF-17 has datalink, but the question is how good is it? I would not underestimate China's datalink between AWACS, GC and indigenous fighters so fast.

As for JF-17's radar, it's using KLJ-10. That's for both the pla version and the first 50 PAF JF-17s. It's a slotted array radar. But I guess if PAF is willing to pay more, ESA radar is definitely possible.

Dude you sure know how to remix PakDef news.

There was Pakistani delegation in UK and they were talking about JF-17 avionics package. Alot of guys at PakDef pointed to Selex Vixen AESA as a posibility. Now noone said that Pakistan SHALL select that radar. We are not even sure if the avionics package will include a radar or not.

Re: JF-17: New Pics

First of all, Indianfighter, we're comparing the Gripen to the FC-1, not the MKI. Completely different weight classes, not to mention that the latter has a 300mm advantage in dish diameter. Second, just where do you get that the Gripen cannot coordinate multi-axis attacks? PS-05 is a damn good radar. MK2 theoretically also has the mini-AEW ability with the side looking radar pod, but it's STILL limited, just like the MKI. Now, if you want to compare the unrealized capabilities of both planes, let me just say that an AESA version of the PS-05 is in the works.
