何斌斌上校参加了03年我国新型歼击机(就是10号)最后的打靶试飞等工作。当然,由于保密,他不愿提歼10的提法,我只好跟着他谈国产新型歼击机。

Actually the IRST seems to be an accurate point. It's there on all new PAF JF-17 models. I'll try and get hold of a pic.
last october 2005, report that Chunghong has developed new generation of IRST that twice the detection range of SU-27sk call "Chungkwang-1"
no data or picture were available.but during the 2004 zhuhai airshow,China displayed third gen. of IR detector quantum well plane array IR detector.may be there connection between gen.3 IR detector and IRST.
new gen. of IRST such as Pirate IRST stalled on EF-2000,not perform search and track, but also MAW(missile alert warning)detecting the rocket plumes or FLIR,image of target can be projected in HUD or HMD.
aside from IRST,FC-1 also fitted with MAW ,this missile alert warning use focal plane array detector,it dual band (IR/UV) detector possess pseodo-imaging capability.can detect incoming aircraft 20km away.

Pakistan, China exploring market for Thunder jets

Islamabad, Sep 3: Pakistan and China are looking for buyers in third countries for their joint venture combat aircraft JF-17 Thunder, officially called FC-1.

The two are also jointly producing the Chinese designed F-22 frigate and the Al Khalid tank. New projects are likely to be discussed by a high-level Chinese delegation that arrived in Pakistan on Sunday.

The two sides would review the progress of ongoing joint ventures in the defence production sector, the official APP news agency reported quoting unnamed defence sources in Beijing.

The delegation is led by Jin Zhuang, Vice Minister, Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence (COSTIND). The six-day visit is aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the defence sector, The News International newspaper said.

Defence sources told APP here the delegation would study the possibility of undertaking new projects in the light of the success in the ongoing-projects like JF-17 Thunder and F-22 P frigate.

These projects are highly significant in their bilateral ties to strengthening defence capability. The project JF-17 Thunder, formally known as FC-1, is also designed to increase Pakistan's self-reliance and create the potential for an export market, the officials said.

The project, initiated in February 1992, is a joint venture between Pakistan Air Force and China Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation along with Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation (CAC).

Research and Development cost of this project is estimated between $450 to $500 million. Pakistan will be financing 50-59 per cent of the multi-million dollar project.

Estimated cost per aircraft will be around $15-20 million, which makes it an excellent option for export market, a defence official said. China and Pakistan are also expected to start production of F-22 P frigates by the end of this year.

Expressing complete satisfaction over Pakistan's frigate deal with China, defence sources were quoted as saying the deal has been finalised and the keel for construction of the F-22 P frigates will be laid at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai later this year.

Re: JF-17 in general

I watch the video and was very impress it seems like the China has a winner in this aircraft. Is the FC-1/JF-17 currently being marketed by China now in other countries? It seems to be a very good replacement for Venezuela’s older F-16 A/B models. It’s a shame China didn’t get there foot in the door in Venezuela it could have lead to many other types of arms deals. Getting a piece of South America arms market would be good for China I read that some Y-8 (I think 3) were sold to Peru a few years back. I have no idea if China has relations with many South American countries and maybe that’s why China’s presents aren’t seen. Besides Chile F-16 Block-52, Venezuela’s future order for Su-30 MX (if real), and Brazil’s Mirage 2000s most of the countries are still flying old Mirages 5/50 and F-5s. It seem to be a perfect market for $15/20 million type fighters and the L-15/8 could maybe replace the A-37s in service with a few countries air forces still. Can somebody tell me if other Chinese made arms are in service in South America without doing a search by country? If anybody has any opinions about Chinese made arms being sold in South America I would be very interested in hearing them, thanks.
