in other words nations who for what ever reason have been shunned by NATO and can't afford anything in the mig price range so are left to either try and salvage museum prices from the fifties and hope the wings don't fall off or buy JF 17. Basicly its the ultra economy model, the jet equivalent of a entry level Toyota.

Well put! The life cycle costs of this aircraft have yet to be determined. One could use the entry level toyota example or entry level fiat.

Or consider the pre-used F-16.

Another advantage would be the relatively lack of strings, as well as generous tech transfer for countries ambitious enough to start their own production lines.

How expensive are the F-16 parts and maintenance can be? I mean they mass produced the F-16 therefore by the economy of scales rule of thumb it should be cheaper than before.

To be honest I suspect a good number of the PRC's eastern neighborhood who might be in the market for a fighter like JF17 will not buy it. The political situation.
The same for some of her land locked neighbors they either are going to buy Russian or American or pickup Gripens. Pakistan is the exception not the rule. Where I suspect FC1/JF17 sales will be best is Africa. I suspect in twenty years African nations will shoot be shooting Tavors, CQ311s, AK100s, SCARH and of course older G3,Fal and AKMs vintage tanks will be replaced with Chinese export models and customized indigenous hot rod versions of classics like the T62.
As Hind will continue in service with Havoc following we will see Z9 and Z10 on African shores and FC1 phasing out mig21 for most well some nations move to J10 export. China has placed a deep interest in Africa for both good and ill. The only two real players are Egypt and south Africa with possible emerging players like Nigeria. Africa is where the military buys for China will be the most lucrative and where I suspect we are going to see a massive Private military contracting market boom. Latin America may buy some but few and far between the only reliable buys are infantry and counter insurgency equipment additionally any buy in Latin America would demand tech and building of plants for indigenous builds. The most reliable buyer is Venezuela who is deep in Russian orbit, second most reliable military spender is Brazil who is in French orbit. Argentina is the most likely entry point but the least likely to spend the money. Most of Latin America will likely be getting F16 or grippen or just not buying.

that would be true if and only if you have access to the kind of scale USAF has.

to pay a maintenance support crew, per hour rate + per-diem, especially from western countries to come over is expensive.

with out foreign military sales support from US (i.e. a check from US congress) to foot the bills the refurb is prohibitively expensive.

alot of US companies are making a killing at servicing these used f-16 fleets ,that are other wise unaffordable with out FMS support.

Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Laos, Cambodia, Burma ... hell if Dr Habibi of Indonesia wants it I am sure china would sell it a production line...
