Paf almost never uses live ammunition during non training or non hostile environment.
.

Sorry Munir, My english is not as good as yours or official knowledge of PAF as good as yours. Your ist line statement, would that be a policy or protocoal ? if its a policy then I will change my statement to Policy from protocol, will that be good for you ?

PS: Meaning of Policy: A policy is a principle or rule to guide decisions and achieve rational outcomes. A policy is a statement of intent, and is implemented as a procedure[1] or protocol. Thank you for your half baked english, you can now go back to party / gate crashing .

Sorry mods and other guys, usually don't like to get this down low, but just had to say it.

Pakistan lacks this, so without long range SAM assist, why would the IAF need 3 times as many fighters to gain an advantage? With both sides operating AWACS and the closeness of the two, even ground based radars would give the pilots of both sides comparable situation awareness irrespective of which side of the boarder the fight was over during the initial clashes.

Pakistan do need a decent force of long range SAMs. at least to conver its base and acts like a base of fire or a shield for its fighter force.

S400 or HQ-9?

Let us move on. You do understand that, don't you? It is not about english but knowing or understanding basic logic. Here you have a pretty simple escort of a close ally... Which part is difficult for you?

1. JF-17 Block 2 will have mid-air refueling capability and upgraded avionics.
2. Besides, the third squadron in addition to the 16th and 26th squadrons would be established soon.
3. The current production rate is around 16-18 per year. If manpower increased, the rate could be raised up to 30 per year.

Yes you are spot on with the production rate, in 2010 serials 10-113 to 10-128 were produced, meaning 16 aircraft then production continued in 2011 and in 2012 the last batch of 50 units were completed and delivered

This was 8 from the SBP and 2 which came in parts in a An-124 directly from China and the first PAC built JF-17 was delivered end of 2009 serial 09-111, so 8 were built in China, 2 assembled in PAC and 40 built from scratch in PAC (or you could say 42 built in PAC)

2012 was a pretty much finish off year for the Block I, with the last few remaining units produced, then the work switched to Block II and pretty much half of last year and this year PAC has been focused on building the Block II units

Block II has aerial refuelling and AWACS integration, no WS13 or twin sweater, 50 Block II are planned before a Block III appears, twin seated and WS13 is for Block III not II, no stealth is planned in either block

I have a feeling that the first units of Block II will form the first naval Sqaudron of JF-17 which will have upgraded avionics which will allow for launching C-802 etc, each Block is producing around 3 squadrons so by the time 150 enter service Pakistan will have 9 Sqaudrons, with 8 for PAF and 1 for the PN

Latest information is that the last units of Block I are at PAF Minhas under going final tests and evaluations (they are always stationed there before being handed over to their new homes) and shoud be handed over to their respective Sqaudrons soon, while at the same time work inside the PAC facility is focused on building the Block IIs, I do not think there will be a delay because of the new variant because last year there was only 8 Block I built all built by middle of the year so they have had 6 months to gear up for the Block II production which is likely 16 aircraft this year

Overall this project has been a great programme for Pakistan, China always has senior personal working in PAC and over seeing the production

PAC has now almost managed 100% of the production of the aircraft, apart from the engine, even radars are fully built in Pakistan, production will likely remain at 16-18 units unless a export order is found in which case they can pop 30 of these units out in a yea if needs be

Does this mean that Pakistan no longer needs parts of the JF-17 Thunder flown in from China to be assembled ? With the exception of the engines which China in turn buys from the Russians.

What kinds of upgrades does the block II have except for the avionics ? I hear talk of more use of composite material to increase T/W ratio, new datalink system, support for latest generation of Chinese munitions and a mid air refueling probe.

Ah I forgot to add in this picture, it shows serial production 37 which is the 45th of the total, will be serial 12-145 just 5 shy of the 50 which was last year, don't be fooled by the paper sticker on the nose which says FC10137 which is a designation NOT serial number

Block II I guess we won't see until next year or at the earliest end of this year, I don't think there will be a massive show case ceremony like 09-111

What exact upgrades we don't know but the major upgrades are aerial refuelling and AWACS, since Midas tankers and ZDK-03 are serving PAF it's a priority to maximise thier assets by integrating them its the Thunders, and yes even the KLJ-7 radars are built on house as is all other parts, electronics and piping etc

Here's a few videos of the Kamra facility, very modern and very well equipped to meet the needs of Pakistan Air Force

And here is designation FC10140 which is SP 40 or 48th of the total (remember there were 8 Small batch production from China) namely 07-101 to 08-108
